Azalai Beach Cottage

We had an amazing stay at Azalai Beach Cottage! Everything exceeded our expectations, the service was great, the food was delicious and varied, the staff was warm, attentive and felxible, and the hotel itself was a great retreat. I cannot wait to visit again and would highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for an exceptional experience.

For me this location has been a wonderful discovery. I don't know if many travelers from outside of Morocco know that in this country there are also places like this. This oasis is located at the foot of a spectacular secluded beach. Around a semi-tropical garden, with palm trees, cacti and lots of green, the different cottages of the space are interspersed. After seeing the wonderful views of the sea from my room and since my work has to do with locations, I asked one of the employees to show me some of the unoccupied cottages. I loved them! The space is perfect for those seeking disconnection. Any of its angles has the perfect photo, you can eat great and you can contemplate some magical sunsets. At night you will only hear the sound of the waves rocking your sleep. I especially liked the views from my room, the pool area and the wonderful deck facing the sea. I also remember the energy that could be felt in a cave at the top of the space with a natural waterfall and pool. The employees are especially nice and Sabrina, the manager, will help you with everything you need during your stay. I definitely recommend staying at this location. You don't want to leave there easily, so book at least a couple of days if you can. My advice is that you reserve the days in proportion to the desire to disconnect that you have at this moment in your life. The greater the need, the more days. I assure you that you will return like new. The definition of this place is warm and welcoming. Hopefully you can discover the magic and tranquility of this space. Do not hesitate, if you are reading reviews to decide on a space in the area, do yourself a favor: do not think twice and book directly with them.

First of all - let me say the location, hotel and staff (waiters) are amazing. However, when we arrived we were surprised by a dirt road that was not suited for our kind of car. Not only was this not mentioned on the website before booking, the dirt road was a lot longer than was mentioned to us (only AFTER booking!). 2,4km in stead of 1km to be exact. This kind of thing has to be mentioned clearly on the official website. We also clearly mentioned at the booking AND after when we called that we had certain dietary restrictions (gluten free and organic) and they told us that “it is all taken care off”. This was not true and luckily me (gluten free) and my mom (organic) brought some of our own things or we would have been hungry for the whole stay. I got rock hard corn bread and muffins for breakfast and that was it. Not even gluten free flour was provided to the chef to make me something. I couldn’t eat any of the desserts at lunch / dinner because they all contained gluten and I just got fruit instead. My mom couldn’t eat anything for breakfast and only fish and some vegetables for lunch / dinner. The manager and staff didn’t even know anything about gluten allergies - which can be very dangerous. When we got to our room we quickly found out there were a lot of ants and called for them to find a solution. They tried to stop them from coming back but it didn’t work, so we insisted to get an other room as I had started to find some ants in my bed!. This is were the biggest issue of our stay started - the manager. He said there were no rooms available for that night but when we said we wouldn’t pay (because obviously I can’t sleep in a bed with ants) he ‘suddenly’ found a client that wanted to trade rooms with us - as if. When my dad went to the room the next morning because we forgot something, he found it empty and not even cleaned. Starting off our stay with a lie is not a good way to start. A small cottage hotel like this should feel very inviting - like coming home or coming back to family or friends. And a hotel at that price point & with that claimed luxury and quality should treat their clients like kings. The manager however is very cold, aloof, sometimes rude and condescending. There were several incidents where he spoke in a way that was very inappropriate and unprofessional & never even smiled to any of the customers! I recommend that he is trained or replaced because this brings down the reputation of Azalai a lot.
