Just had a lovely light lunch here. Great location, attentive staff, and excellent meal. I had the Sussex smokie and my brother the scotch egg. Really tasty, with a superb ale too. I will definitely be returning and next time for an evening meal.

This was really one of the best pub food experiences we have had. Everything we ordered was delicious, perfectly cooked and value for money. We rarely eat three courses, but we had to here. six dishes, six hits! And to top it all it serves Harveys beer too

First time back after a few years and it won’t be our last. This was recommended to us as it has been under new management. We had a wonderful meal, all home cooked, excellent steak & Guinness pie with fresh vegetables & mash, fantastic! Welcoming atmosphere and first class service, we certainly will be coming back.

Group of 8 family (eldest member still a resident in beautiful Peasmarsh) get-together at the lovely H&C where we used to frequent regularly many years ago. Great memories of a friendly, lively village pub which didn't disappoint on this recent visit. Fantastic service, friendly atmosphere and quality food. Superb to see the village pub still going strong. Thank you for a lovely Sunday afternoon.

Best Sunday roast I’ve had for a long time. (Apart from my own!) Everything very tasty and hot. Great Yorkshire pudding and selection of vegetables. Service spot on and a very warm welcome. Good value. A proper pub with a good selection of beers and wine.

We went to The Horse & Cart, Peasmarsh on December 19th as a group of nine for our pre Christmas evening meal. We were looked after and served admirably from the time we arrived to when we left. Good menu, food was delicious, plentiful and hot with properly cooked vegetables. Perfectly cooked Christmas Dinner and scrummy Eaton Mess.

We were staying locally and walked to the Horse and Cart not expecting much…. Honestly, this place is amazing, the staff are great, the food is absolutely superb, own of the best meals out we’ve had in years. Would really recommend to anyone staying in Rye.

What a lovely experience today. Best roast beef I have ever tasted. Moules to start with were excellent. Add to that the friendly service from the owner/chef and the staff, a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday. Fortunately we are local and this is our third meal. Just to add, the Harvey’s bitter is very good.

Such a welcoming and friendly pub, lovely staff, we came Friday night as we were staying just up the road and had such a great meal and experience we came back again the following evening. Dinner Friday, Chorizo and Prawn past, lovely and fresh, well seasoned and plentiful. Pizza nice and thin and crispy, there was nothing left. We had fish and chips and ham, egg and chips the second night and for typical pub fare it was extremely delicious, all fresh , quality ingredients. Cannot recommend enough, wish we were local!
