We have stayed at the Carrier Houses Bed & Breakfast many times. As with all the previous stays this one was a wonderful relaxing getaway. The hosts have thought of everything to make their guests comfortable. The breakfast is incredible. The location is perfect for day trips to many popular places. Love staying here!

As a long-time traveler, you are in a long quest to find the place that beckons you back to a home like feeling, or the one that provides you that special attention to detail you achieve only in the luxury of a five-star hotel. Jim and Rusell have achieved this excellence in their superior hosting at the Carrier Houses Bed and Breakfast. Not only their well establish ability to welcome you into their historic homes, but to think of every detail even during a time of crisis. Astounding! We were part of a Garden Group that had occupied the majority of their B&B for the weekend. Not just any weekend though. The past weekend when through the area past Hurricane Helene with such vengeance and force that not even the strong hearted had to have a feeling of fear about their fate. Within a short time of our visit, we lost electric and any connections to the outside world. J & R lite the houses up with candles and lightening (for the entire stay-day and night), served us meals fresh off the outside grill, made sure that our every need was addressed, all the while worrying about the safety of their own family and friends (which they barely ever mentioned) in the outside world. You cannot find that kind of attention to detail, passion and attention to comfort. Though we had each stayed at this B&B on a previous occasion, we all walked away from our weekend visit feeling cared for and loved by strangers who are the true definition of outstanding Innkeepers. OMG!!! My friend Fred, from Forest City, recommended the Carrier Houses B&B and for that I will be forever thankful!! If you are anywhere near Asheville, NC or Greenville, SC consider a stay here! Jim & Russell, the owners/innkeepers provide you with a personal experience you won't find anywhere else. Do yourself a favor and call to make a reservation and you will immediately understand why you will have a great stay. You'll be asked about dietary restrictions and the purpose of your visit so they can tailor a visited crafted just for you. The 2 houses date to the 1800's and are beautiful and tastefully done. There are plenty of places to sit back and relax including porches and a pond, and the small, charming downtown is just one block away. If you are a church goer, there are 3 different denominations to choose from. Breakfast is delicious and prepared from scratch by Jim who prefers to use fresh ingredients. As a non-yogurt lover, Jim converted me with his blend of Greek yogurt, ricotta cheese, honey, and vanilla bean paste with an assortment of fresh fruit. If you've seen the movie, Last Holiday, starring Queen Latifah, and remember the scene where she hugs the sheets in bed, well I felt the same way when I slid between the sheets. What else can I say but that I will DEFINITELY be back!!!!

Jim & Russell are amazing hosts! Our room was perfect, with a private entrance & an incredibly comfortable bed. Breakfast each morning morning was delicious. The porch makes a relaxing option to slow down & just enjoy. Rutherfordton offers a variety of things to do for a weekend getaway.

What a wonderful place to stay! Jim and Russell were great hosts. Very knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was excellent and they went out of there way to help us celebrate our 10th Anniversary. Look forward to another stay

What a wonderful B&B experience! We were fortunate to be a part of the Carrier Houses' elaborate Halloween decor and festivities. Everything about our stay was fantastic from our large and comfortable room to unique memorable breakfasts....pumpkin pancakes and French (bread) toast! While the beautiful historic and well maintained house can't be beat, the real magic of the Carrier Houses B&B is the warmth and welcoming nature of Jim and Russell (and four legged friends Ranger and Watson). Full of helpful information and wonderful stories about the houses, village, and surrounding area, Jim and Russell easily transformed the houses to home and made us feel part of the family. We shall return.
