This is a handy little spot to break journey as we did on the drive up from Delhi to Manali. Rooms are large and clean and the air conditioning is good. Food is ordinary, but portions are generous. It’s across a charming canal and there are nice walks if you’re of a mind to step out. They have a delightful little cocker spaniel! I would return happily!

Being a thoughtful gentleman, i often feel the need for a pleasing vista from where i can stare across the horizon with a glass of Whiskey, watching the sun set, imagining poets of the past singing and armies marching. This particular need of mine was fulfilled this January at Bharatgarh Fort. I felt a sort of comfortable numbness that hinted that I was either in 2024 or 1783 or (Likely) somewhere in between. This is the kind of place where a fishing trip with the boys can become a fever dream wrapped in a vision quest and presented in a Chanel handbag. History and style merge together, manifesting themselves in 3 meter thick Ramparts and ice cold Vodkas. Sometimes a Barbeque pops up and makes its appearence. At others, a rustic Tandoor takes its place, reminding one that the past and present cohabit this place. Physicists theorise of a space-time continuum. But Physicists are famous ******. They shoulkd talk less and just come here.

Beautiful, peaceful place in Sylvan surroundings. Loved the way modern amenities have been provided without compromising the original architecture. The hostess is friendly and very responsive to the guests’ needs. Her team too deserves kudos!

We visited the Bharatgarh Fort with friends for an afternoon and lunch. Hosts Deepinder Singh and his wife were ultra-gracious in touring us through the fort and serving a delicious lunch. This is an ancient fort that has been in their family for many generations. It is decorated with historical stuff. The sitting area where they served drinks was the old armory powder storage room - the walls are several feet thick! The roof top observation area provides wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. We recommend that you add a stop at this fort for a night or more to your visit to north India.

Jasvinder kaur We spent two blissful days at this beautiful historical fort probably only one of its kind in Punjab. It brought back memories of ones early life like the sound of the train whistling by, the lush green fields and sounds of nature. There was excellent home cooked food. The room had been beautifully done to the minutest details of comfort ***** with keeping the heritage norms. Would highly recommend this to anyone who wants the most amazing experience.

Looking for a nice place to rest on our way to Manali then ***, we found this beautiful hotel. Driving from Delhi is tedious, but you can easily fly to Chandigahr, then a quick trip to this very nice heritage hotel. The hosts are absolutely charming and although we were the only guests we never felt alone. The Punjabi food is excellent and recommended. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, the bathroom is modern. The stairs are tricky for the disabled but don't expect a lift in this old fortress. December is already crisp to cold. Good practice for ******. Walk around the fort are beautiful and the village with the Sikh temple is very varied. Only to recommend.

There are few forts in India which can boast such rich heritage, glorious history and illustrious traditions as Bharatgarh. This fort is not just a fort but a palace as well as a fitting tribute and memorial to one of India's greatest martyrs, Nawab Kapur Singh Virk, in whose family this property has remained continuously for 3 centuries ( a tradition unmatched by any other family or dynasty in Punjab ).Nawab Kapur Singh founded in the early 18th Century the Dal Khalsa, the 12 Misls into which all Jat Sikh Zamindars were organised and without which the Sikh community would have been extinguished. Under Nawab Kapur Ji's leadership, the Mughals, Afghans and Persians ( under Nader Shah ) were completely routed from the entire Punjab region laying the foundations of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's future Sikh Empire. His bloodline continues to flourish at Bharatgarh embracing the same high standards of honour, integrity, decency, courage, charm and generosity. The current owner, Sardar Deepinder Singh Virk, 9th generation descendant and heir of Nawab Kapur Ji is the quintessential aristocrat and consummate gentleman. Staying at Bharatgarh will evoke memories of a bygone age ruled by a powerful warrior elite while the backdrop of the Sutlej River, the lush forests within its environs, in addition to the breathtaking views of the Siwalik Himalayan foothills make this destination stand out as uniquely beautiful, serene, inspiring, romantic, exotic and deliciously nostalgic. No trip to Punjab is complete without a visit to Bharatgarh. Navtej Mangat,

I cannot recommend this homestay enough! Tucked away on the Satluj, this fort overlooks the jungle and river, being an oasis from city life. The fort is historical, dating back to the Singhpuria misl, and is a must visit for anyone in search on Punjabi history. The owners of the stay have maintained their heritage, keeping the fort intact with stylish furniture that gives a glimpse of the past. The hospitality I received went above and beyond most residences, the owners extremely welcoming and helpful in accommodating my every need. The food they provide is delicious, and the room being extremely comfortable. You cannot find this level of hospitality, heritage, and history anywhere else in Punjab!
