Hotel Kommandørgården

My wife and I have stayed at Hotel Kommandørgården earlier and as the previous stays this was also very much a pleasure. We had booked the 2 days "Black Sun and Oysters stay" (Sort Sol og Østersophold). During this 2-day stay Friday to Sunday at the Hotel Kommandørgården in Denmark, we had the opportunity to experience both the breathtaking natural phenomenon of Black Sun and indulge in the region’s finest oysters, making for a truly unforgettable getaway. Hotel Kommandørgården, nestled in the serene surroundings of the Wadden Sea National Park, exudes charm and tranquility. This rustic yet modern hotel perfectly blends tradition with comfort. The rooms were spacious and tastefully decorated, providing a peaceful retreat after a day of adventure. The Black Sun phenomenon (Sort Sol) is a mesmerizing natural spectacle where thousands of starlings gather in the sky during sunset. This phenomenon is best viewed during the autumn months and was simply breathtaking. We joined a guided tour Friday evening led by a knowledgeable local expert who took us to the ideal vantage points, where we were treated to the sight of the birds forming intricate, ever-shifting patterns in the sky. On Saturday we had the chance to join a local oyster tour, where we harvested oysters from the Wadden Sea. The tour included harvesting, cleansing, opening of the oysters and a tasting session. The tastings were both raw oyters with a squeeze of lemon and vinegar, and several types of oven-cooked recipes all of them delicious. The oysters were nicely paired with a glass of crisp sparkling wine. The service at Hotel Kommandørgården was impeccable. The staff were friendly, professional, and went out of their way to make sure every aspect of my stay was enjoyable. From organizing the Black Sun tours to guiding the best oyster spots, they were incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable. Kommandørgården's restaurant did not let us down either, from the fish buffet Friday evening, to the traditional "cake table" (Sønderjysk kagebord) Saturday to the lovely Saturday evening buffet with roasts etc. I also have to mention that they have both two wonderful outdoor pools (one was still open) and an even more lovely indoor pool combined with a Turkish bath and option to get massage. Conclusion: Our 2-day stay at Hotel Kommandørgården was nothing short of brilliant. Between the stunning Black Sun spectacle and the unforgettable oyster experiences, it was a perfect blend of nature and gastronomy. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or a food lover, this hotel offers a fine experience that combines comfort with the beauty of Denmark's coastal environment. Highly recommended!

So disappointed about the standard of the Hotel. Lack of maintenance every where. Some areas and furnitures looks like the seventies. The outdoor fish pond looks it never get cleaned. Pools looks ok. Not many speaks Danish. Rooms are not very clean and do not live up to pictures in the website. There was no soap in bathroom and remote control without batteries. The buffet was ok but nothing special. Breakfast is average but with hair in the waffles. The staff is kindly but not enough of them.

Excellent choice for a xmas holiday. I Stayed there half pension over xmas and had a very good time. A buffet of all the best from the kitchen of Southern Denmark together with the true danish xmas dishes. The international and danish staff were professionals , always merry, goodhumoured and patient and the room was next to the swimmingpool (icy) and electronically fuldt equipped and up to date. Enjoy the Rømø Marsh and Walks by the Waddell sea and join the oyster-plcking. Tour -, very good fun . I fully recommend the full package.

We lived in an apartment with our family and had an amazing stay. The food was really good and the pool and playground was great for the kids. We also did a ride to the beach which was an amazing experience. We will come back!

Wir haben hier eine wunderbar erholsame Woche im Hotelzimmer mit Wattenblick gehabt. Das Zimmer ist sehr gemütlich und hell und es gibt sogar eine kleine Küchenzeile mit Kaffeemaschine und Wasserkocher. Die Sitzecke am Fenster lädt zum Verweilen ein und wir konnten den Islandpferden beim grasen zusehen. Auch, wenn es ein paar Bohrlöcher in der Wand gab muss ich sagen, dass es hier nichts zu beanstanden gab. Es wurde sogar speziell vegetarisch für uns gekocht! Wir haben die dänische Saunakultur kennen gelernt und der Innenpool ist sogar recht groß. Die Dampfsauna konnte jederzeit selbständig benutzt werden und die Faßsauna auf Wunsch, wenn rechtzeitig Bescheid gesagt wurde. Das Restaurant hat einen Kamin und es gab echte Kerzenleuchter, das Essen war zauberhaft und der Service außerordentlich höflich. Ich kann dieses Hotel nur empfehlen, auch, wenn du deinen Müll selber weg bringen musst. Wer aufmerksam ist, wird auch im Vorfeld darüber informiert, so daß sich niemand beschweren kann, denn ökologisch nachhaltige Standarts haben andere Prioritäten. Wenn es etwas zu beanstanden gibt, wird sich darum gekümmert. Wir haben nur positive Erahrungen gemacht! Die Gemütlichkeit und Herzlichkeit waren besonders. 5 Sterne und Herzen von uns

Wir haben die ausgedehnten Ausritte auf den braven Island Pferden mit tollen Guides am Strand genossen dazu Wattenmeer Blick aus dem Appartement, schöne Massage mit Sauna, gutes Buffet, Hüpfburg und zwei Pools. Alle waren sehr flexibel.
