We stayed at Hotel Piccolo Borgo for one night, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we walked into the room, it was clear that basic cleanliness and maintenance weren’t a priority. There were stains on the curtains, torn furniture, marks all over the walls, and dirty floors. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, with visible stains on the mattress and only one flat pillow that offered no support. The bathroom was another huge problem. The next morning, when we went to shower, we discovered there was no hot water at all. After a long day of traveling, we were hoping for at least a decent start to our day, but we were forced to shower in cold water. The showerhead was filthy, covered in grime and limescale, and the whole bathroom felt unclean. It’s shocking that this was the standard they provided. The room also smelled of cigarette smoke, even though it was advertised as non-smoking. My partner has asthma, so this wasn’t just unpleasant, it was a health risk. We brought up these issues at check-out, but instead of taking any responsibility, we were handed a business card and told to email management. We emailed straight away, including photos of the room to support our complaint. After several days of back-and-forth emails, management finally offered a partial refund, but their tone was dismissive and unprofessional. They even referred to our complaint as an “endless epistolary conversation,” which was insulting given how serious the issues were. We never usually submit reviews and are often lenient if one or two things aren’t quite right, but this experience went far beyond what we could excuse. This hotel didn’t meet even basic standards of cleanliness, comfort, or service. For a place that calls itself 3 star, the experience was a joke. We wouldn’t recommend staying here under any circumstances.
