A hotel lost in time! A mausoleum ! The hotel is very dated, there is a smell of toilets throughout the building. Our room when we arrived had no safe, reception said there is one in the wardrobe . There wasn’t one, a technician arrived and was surprised there wasn’t one, he quickly found one and fitted it. The patio door was in a very poor condition , difficult to open and close due to poor maintenance . Also it had now way of locking and the rubber glass seals were falling out. The shower had no bracket to hold the shower rose. The major problem with the room was a total lack of sound proofing, you could hear everything your neighbours were up to, I mean everything. If you read other reviews you will see this is very common complaint to which the hotel admits is a problem and says it plans to improve the sound proofing . This needs to be done as a priority! The prices in the bar have risen since January on our last visit, a pint of beer that can be bought in the surrounding bars for 4€ has gone up from 4.5€ to 6€! We ordered two Larios and tonics and were charged 20€, the gin hardly made the glass wet, never seen such a small measure even in the uk! We asked reception why the increase , the reply was to make it more exclusive and to keep the riffraff out. The exterior of this ancient hotel has a banner up regarding Riccardo’s restaurant , as far as I can find this hasn’t been open since2020
