The Clothiers Arms

Visited on bank holiday Monday and was seated straight away. Considering how busy the pub was, the food came out in reasonable time and was delicious! The portion sizes were great, definitely got our monies worth! The atmosphere was good, was very calm in the restaurant.

Out walking the canal with my wife and wanted somewhere close for lunch. We decided on the Clothiers Arms based on proximity to the canal and nothing else. What a very pleasant suprise. Proper pub, good range of ales and a very well priced lunchtime menu. The gammon I had was exceptional. So, if you're in Stroud and want a proper meal in a proper pub, don't look any further than the Colliers Arms. Highly recommended.

Lovely place warn comfortable rooms en-suite. Cannot fault anything. Food fantastic. Best fish and chips since Gok Kwan's family chippy in Whetstone Many years ago. Special mention for Niall who played the perfect host and also Karena who initially booked us in and was most helpful. All the staff were good and deserve an accolade. Thankyou, best 3 days we have had in a long time!

Just had a fantastic Christmas meal with friends this evening. I had the soup as a starter which was really tasty, followed by the turkey. Every part of the main was well cooked and full of flavour and great presentation. Service was excellent with the staff being very attentive. It showed that they really enjoy their job and want to make sure that guests have a great time. Thank you for a lovely evening and merry Christmas to you all.

We were a party of 10 and everyone enjoyed their food. The portions were all hearty and tasty and the service was good too. Apparently the homemade curry was amazing and so were the burgers. It’s a busy local pub near to the centre of Stroud. Thank you.

Forget about having a relaxing holiday here. You won't be able to have peace. From our room we could hear all day constant laundry noises and repetitive beeps from machines next door. They said they had tumble dryers right behind the bed!! (as you can see in that door on the image). I had to go down from my room (tired after travelling) and ask them to stop the noise. They said they would. The noise was still going on at 6pm. I had to go down again and ask them one more time. There was no manager on site (the staff told me themselves). A total disaster and nightmare. Holidays ruined. Besides, the floor of the room was so sticky that we had to put towels on the floor to walk on them and the cutlery for breakfast looked disgusting!

Our third visit to the Clothiers Arms, and yet again were delighted with the food - my wife had the seabass and I had the ham egg and chips - all delicious and very reasonable. The home-cured ham was especially tasty, and a generous portion.

Room was clean and tidy and quiet - no traffic noise at night. Beds very comfortable. Shower & bathroom good. Varied food menu in the bar/restaurant. - We visited on a 'very lively' Saturday evening. Despite eating at a busy time (around 7 pm.) We did not have to wait long for our orders to be served. Restaurant area was fully booked but we ate in the bar area - no problem. Harry the manager was very accommodating. Would stay/eat here, if in the area again.

Stayed here in June 2023 whilst working nearby for a few days. Can't fault it! - lovely, friendly attentive staff. My room didn't have an en-suite bathroom but I had a huge bathroom all to myself just across the corridor. Not really an issue but I do wonder if they could convert whichever room I was in to have an ensuite?
