My husband and I booked The Bear for our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. A lovely hotel with ample parking. We were met by a friendly receptionist who booked us in. We were in room 26, on the second floor. Our room was spacious with a four-poster bed, nicely decorated, and a good-sized bathroom. We were there only for one night, but there is plenty of wardrobe space if you were staying longer. There's an iron, ironing board, safe and hairdryer available. A coffee machine and a kettle, only two English breakfast tea bags available or fruity ones, we asked for more. A small fridge with milk, and we popped in the water that was provided. My only gripes were the windows they are clearly old. You could not open the windows, and the room was stifling. A fan was provided, but it didn't do much to cool the room down. The other was the bath panel it needed painting as it made the bathroom look scruffy. We headed out for a walk before an 8pm dinner. We loved the local common with the cows roaming as they pleased. We had a couple of drinks at the bar they do alcohol free gins which I was happy with, poor selection of real ales though. Dinner was enjoyable and the staff friendly. We had a good night's sleep and again the full English breakfast for my husband whilst I opted for the avocado with bacon. Plenty of juices, cereals and fruit. We would happily stay here again.
