Edge Apartment Hotel

Rockhampton was a halfway stop on our way to the Whitsundays. We had low expectations, but everything was spot on with this accommodation - easy to find, easy to securely park, helpful staff, large clean apartment, nice views ( we were on 6th floor). Nothing not to like and absolutely perfect for our needs. I have no hesitation in recommending this place.

I was super excited to go to Rockhampton for the first time. I drove 9 hours with my autistic 17 year old. I have a long family history here but had not visited before and I’m 46 years old. When I arrived, happy to be at their hotel, their 3 staff at reception were transactional. These were the first people I meet in Rockhampton. Please know I stay in backpacks all the way to high end hotels but the staff made me feel like I was an imposter and I shouldn’t be in their hotel. There was nothing welcoming about them. Not even a “how has your day been “?. It was more, I’m charging you card, this is how your room fob works, see you later. This was the same for staff across the 2 days I stayed there. No asking if I needed anything or if they could be of assistance. Just nothing. Flatline. Aside from this, the apartment is 3.5 star. Really comfortable and a huge balcony with a great few. I couldn’t complain about a $220 per night charge.

We are travelling for business, and looked at the location for the affiliated accommodation provider and were not impressed. After the previous not of being in very poor accommodation we drove around Rockhampton and was impressed by the way Edge presented themselves. Their staff were very hospitable and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the whole room was beautiful and clean! Highly recommend! We will be back for sure.

Very disappointed with the condition due to lack of maintenance and poor design ie: hit my head twice on the microwave (who thought placing it above the sink and jutting out was a good idea). The view outside is a grubby concrete wall, non smoking with an ash tray (really). Noisy and rusty AC near the bed which cannot be turned off as it supplies cooling to another room therefore precluding a restful nights sleep. Dangerous 240v lamp with no bulb installed in lounge area. Very poor lighting in the bathroom and $28 if you want to take the very average quality soap dispenser(yuk). Numerous other examples as well. At $215 per night my wife and I were naturally expecting something cleaner and better maintained.

I spent 2 nights at Edge apartments last week while in Rockhampton. Check in was quick and friendly, and I was advised to park anywhere available in the carpark. Going into the carpark, there was nothing available and I ended up parking on the street. On the second night, again I drove through the car park but there were no spaces available, so also ended up parking on the street. The room was basic but comfortable and clean. A reverse cycle air conditioner was included, and there was a fridge, sink and microwave in the room. Wifi is provided free of charge and it works. The room was incredibly hot when I arrived at it, but after an hour the aircon had worked and cooled it down. There is an Indian restaurant and bar on the ground floor, which I highly recommend. Excellent food. It is a short walk to the shopping centre, and there is a river nearby which is good for walking along. As a big benefit, the Edge does not charge any surcharge of paying by credit card. Hotels have been one of the most bullish industries in applying surcharges, despite enjoying more benefits than other industries (booking guarantees, pre-authorisations, charging for no-shows, charging for late charges, avoiding large cash transactions), so it was VERY welcome that the quoted price at Edge is the actual price that you pay without a surcharge. I would happily stay here again for a short stay in Rockhampton (but bear in mind the lack of parking).

Property is in great location. Room was very spacious with modern well maintained facilities. House keeping did a great job in preparing and servicing the room each day. Supermarket close by for supplies and some very good eateries near by. Parking was easy….the only gripe was the continued uncleanliness of the lifts. Apart from that, highly recommend.
