My experience at the Rishirifuji Kanko Hotel was very positive. Before booking, I had a few questions and called the hotel directly. Fujita-san was extremely helpful, and her welcoming attitude played a big role in my decision to stay here. I chose a “Japanese” room facing the port, and it was a delightful surprise. The room had clearly been renovated recently, featuring a modern and comfortable design. Contrary to the typical image of a "Japanese room" with sleeping on futons and sitting on cushions, this one had proper beds, ensuring a great night’s sleep. Others have mentioned the pillows—and they truly are incredible! I decided to skip the set dinner and instead took up a local restaurant recommendation from the hotel staff. It was delicious, and one of the staff members even offered to drive me there! That’s a level of hospitality that really sets this place apart. I did, however, opt for the Japanese breakfast (picture attached), which was far better than what I’ve experienced at most Japanese hotels. The Japanese bath was also a nice touch—while it didn’t have any special views, it was spacious and very relaxing. The location is unbeatable—right next to the port, with restaurants and cafes nearby, and within walking distance to hiking trails and other restaurants. The view from my room was great, with a nice view of the port and the mountain (you'll have to lean out the window a little- photo), adding to the overall charm. Rishirifuji Kanko Hotel may not be the Four Seasons, but it is a quaint, friendly, comfortable, and accommodating hotel that I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable and authentic experience.
