Turf Hotel

Brilliant service , evening food was all homemade and yummy. Large English breakfast was superb. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Bed was so comfy and as soon as I climbed into bed I was asleep. Value for money. Location was near by to the base . Definitely going back in 2025

The staff were all lovely apart from a young lady who gave me dirty looks for asking for the heating to be put on in the room, 3 times. (There was snow outside). I think she really was imature in the way she responded. Food was good, no complaints there. The room was awful. Apart from cold, needing an extra heater, it was dirty. Thick dust an every skirting board, and very damp. There was streaks of water coming down all outside walls, as the water trickled down. The walls felt wet. I stayed the 2 nights as I had paid, but would not recomend anyone to stay there, till the room accomodation is improved.

Popped in for a pub lunch on a daytrip to Richmond. Ordered two sandwiches and waited for over an hour and nothing arrived so left.Excuse was that there was only one chef on duty, but how long can it take to make two sandwiches? Landlady’s attitude unapologetic and unsatisfactory.

One of the dirtiest rooms I have been in. I was heckled, made fun of, by the local pub goers when we first went in. I did not know, (that might have been my fault, I still need to check the advert) I had to share a bathroom and shower that were both dirty and uncleaned. We were told that no one else was staying at the hotel so no one else will be using it, but there was. I think another 3 rooms were occupied. And any of the pub visitors/ members of the public could gain access to the bathroom. (I could hear the bathroom doors opening and closing a lot). The one bedside table was very badly damaged. There was a large ironing board in our small room. The TV was on the wall at 90 degrees to the bed, I had a pain in the neck after 20 mins. The waste bin next to the sink had not been emptied. We were told we had to go to a different hotel to get our breakfast, and had to be there before 9am as the kitchen is closed at 9am. A half mile walk in the rain to get your breakfast, is not the best way to start your day. On the Friday lots of blue bags, I think laundry bags, were left outside and along the passage walkway. No safety measures were considered when these were dumped here. We would have left that hotel, but our circumstances and trying to book another place at short notice was considered. My wife was so stressed and upset, I have never seen her in that state before. I have lots of photos of this disgusting hotel and would welcome any debate by the management regarding the points I have raised

This is a cracking pub with wonderful staff. The atmosphere is superb and the Timothy Taylor's Landlord spot on. Full marks to one of the locals who kindly moved aside when we entered so that we could order our drinks. The same happened when we returned our empty glasses on leaving.

Grim Mansions Turbo awful - walls stained like a Jackson pollack. Bathroom ceiling more mould than paint. Leaking shower and bathroom light didn’t work. Breakfast from 8-930 and no way of ordering it if you weren’t already on way to work like normal humans. I’ve stayed in war zones with more charm. So bad I paid for a second night but drove 5 hours through a night snow storm to avoid staying there again. If this is the standard of hotels in Richmond I would rather sleep in my car.
