Higher Trapp Hotel

Tale of two halves. This hotel is old, worn, and uncomfortable. I would describe my hotel room as worn out, dirty in places and a little bit of mould in the bathroom. The chairs in the restaurant are like sitting on a commode. There is no padding in the middle, they are also all worn out. The staff in general are happy and helpful though we did notice a huge difference from a fabulous friday service to a miserable Saturday service. Also the food was superb Friday night and shocking on the Saturday night. Our room clean on day two was shocking. We had 3 towels thrown on the bed, that was it. Didn't even get an extra loo roll. Its cheap, but you get what you pay for. My beds been like sleeping on a piece of wood. I contemplated sleeping in my car. Honestly don't know how my back is going to recover. We had rooms 9 and 10. If you like a bargain and dont mind roughing it a bit, I'm sure you will love it. All in all, I will never return. Its just not for me.

Everything was spot on! Beautifully clean, well appointed. pleasant and attentive staff. Excellent food and drinks. We will certainly be back. Big shout out to Debbie who was on breakfast duty helping us to plan the sight we wanted to see and helping us save a couple of quid.

Had my wedding on sat 16th Aug 2025 and I can't thank the staff enough especially Megan who helped us through all the things we needed to do to make our day special and a big sthankyou to Hannah as she was in charge for the day the waiting staff were amazing the food arrived promptly and warm and the food was lovely everyone commented on saying the food was lovely and throughly enjoyed it also thanks to John who was the dj on the night he was great the only thing that let us down was some of the rooms need updating and the water pressure in the shower was a bit poor but apart from that we had an amazing day and the weather was perfect for an outside wedding so all is can say is thankyou to all who was involved xx

We booked the Higher Trapp Hotel for our wedding 28/07/25. Honestly everything was absolutely perfect. Megan was absolutely amazing leading up to the wedding, any questions, any last minute bits I wanted doing, nothing was ever too much. She was amazing! Hannah she set everything up for us and made sure our day was running smoothly, checked in on us both the morning of, same with Megan and made sure everything was going to plan. I couldn't of asked for two better people to help us make our day absolutely perfect. A few of us stayed the night before and that was fantastic we did a pre order for food and we had a few dietary requirements that was not a problem at all. Same with the wedding day. Food was fantastic, service was amazing from all the staff, rooms were lovely and clean. It was just perfect. If I could I'd do that day over and over. So massive thankyou again Megan, Hannah and the rest of the staff at the Higher Trapp. 🤍

I would like to thank Hannah for her lovely way in the wedding of my daughter Demi to Adam on 8/8/25. At first at reception i thought she was admin but soon discovered she was organising the wedding. Not only was she so proffessional at her role her interaction was so warm and you knew (as she told me) it was a position she loved. Her clients happiness made her happy. So Hannah i will remember your kindness forever and thank you for making a special day even more special. Love you forever Tony (Demi's dad) x

Really disappointing stay, we stayed here due to attending a wedding near by where the hotel at the venue was already fully booked. However on reflection a travel lodge or just making the long drive home would have been the better option! We paid the £30 for early check in so we could check in before attending the wedding we travelled for. When we arrived we were told our keys hadn’t been sorted yet so would just need to wait for that, told would only be a few minutes so we started to unpack the car. When we went to get our keys she told us we were in the annexe which was in the bottom corner of the car park and had its own car park. So we repacked the car back up and drove down to the annexe. We were greeted by a very tired looking, dark, dated room which was freezing. We plugged the portable heater in to get some heat but minutes after doing that our room was filled with a burning smell from the heater. The bed was probably one of the most uncomfortable I’ve ever stayed in, felt more like a three quarter double rather than an actual double. Only one pillow each provided. Breakfast is 8-10 on a weekend, due to the lack of staff around the juice wasn’t been filled up regularly. The breakfast itself was basic but was ok. Staff when we eventually saw them seemed good but overworked. It’s a shame as it was our first weekend away from our baby due to attending a wedding without him so was hoping for a restful break, however the bed and the room were less than ideal and this really ruined it for us. Guests are rattling about in the hotel, it’s not somewhere that felt particularly busy which is a shame as the location is beautiful. The annexe needs some TLC and upgrades, the £30 early check in fee is steep for the sake of just being disappointed by the room earlier in the day, there was never any suggestion by the hotel that they could put the bags in the room once the room was ready or anything, just seemed to be happy for the additional money! Disappointing, waste of money.
