Filoxenia Hotel Apartments

Fabulous family run apartments with friendly staff who never stopped smiling the whole time we were there. A special mention to Georgia who went out of her way to be kind. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean thanks to the lovely cleaning staff. There are 2 good sized pools which each had plenty of sun-loungers around them. I paid extra for air conditioning which was well worth it for me. My friend had a separate room and said she was fine without air conditioning so it’s down to how much heat you can tolerate at night. The food was also very fresh and tasty, the Greek Night was entertaining. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and I would recommend a cocktail at the Sunset Bar to watch the sun go down. For a budget friendly holiday in the sun I would thoroughly recommend this place.

We had such a wonderful time here! The room was lovely and spacious, yet cosy with a balcony overlooking the stunning grounds and had an incredible view of the sea. The staff were so friendly and kind- we were welcomed like family! The food was amazing and the area was fantastic to explore. We got to have some fantastic traditional Greek entertainment and homemade delicacies! We will definitely be going back again. Thank you, Family Filoxenia 🙂

I had a lovely time at the Filoxenia Apartments. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a superior apartment - which I wasn't expecting. The beds were made and bins emptied every day which is more than normal in an apartment. It was my first holiday alone and I met lots of lovely people, some of these had stayed many times before. The beach, supermarkets and restaurants are all within a few minutes walk. Theologos village is well worth the 35 minute walk to get there, but note that the taverna only opens during the evenings. I will definitely go to these apartments again. The only downside was the taxes to be paid at the end of the holiday and I would have preferred to pay on arrival, but this is the Theologos way.

Really comfortable beds and great air con. Lovely little terrace and the resident tabby cat would always come over to say hello in the mornings and evenings. The views were lovely and it was so peaceful even in the school holidays. Room was tired but was expecting that anyway. We only stayed for 3 nights but you couldn’t go fully self catering as very limited facilities. Would have been great if there was a toaster and/or microwave. The swimming pool area was great, comfy sunbeds and parasols which were always available and lots of balls and floats around to use in the pool. Restaurant was really nice as well and staff very friendly and helpful. They had a shower room which we used before our transfer picked us up which was good and a luggage store. Bus stop right outside hotel to take you top the old town, wouldn’t recommend as it took 1.5 hrs to get there and the bus is rammed. If we went next time we would hire a car as there were plenty of rental shops and roads weren’t too bad. Hotel also has a car park.

Positives - Friendly staff, good location near beach, quiet beaches. Near buy shop. We would definitely return to this hotel for an end of season break. Hotel food was homemade, and the BBQ was very good. Also enjoyed the live music. Negatives - I find it a bit underhand to not inform guests of the safety deposit box charge. When I went to enquire, I was given the key, but the owner failed to tell me there would be a charge of €21 for the week. Even if this was supposedly written on the love holiday spiel, or somewhere in the hotel info, it would have been courteous to mention it in person. The same goes for the local taxes - you are informed at checkout this needs to be paid, I think we should have been told at check-in. So, we had €42 euro to pay at checkout, which needn't have been a surprise, if there had been appropriate communication on check-in. Therefore, I would recommend the management improve their communication with guests regarding the upfront fees. Lastly, the photos of hotel rooms (inside) on their website and love holiday booking page, are a misrepresentation of reality. I appreciate they are standard basic greek accommodation, but the photos portray a nicer internal space than what you actually get. Not hotel related - but just a note about local supermarkets - do not expect a proper supermarket. There are a few on the stretch of road - the one nearest to hotel sells bare minimum, if you walk further down on the same side, there is a shop with lilos etc outside, and this is the best equipped & has many tourist souvenirs, but also has better stock of basic items.

It is only 3 star and that is very obvious. I arrived got card to access the studio was brought to it and was told: ' this is your room'. I was not given any additional info. The studio was stuffy and never smelled fresh even after cleaning. The towels smelled stuffy and some were a half cut of bigger one. We did not have 2 of some of the utensils even though it is for people and the utensils were very old sure handle of tea spoon broke of eating a kiwi??? We did not have a big cutting knife for bread, no kitchen towel or dish cloth. This is not mentioned anywhere so I did not bring it. The room had air-conditioning unit but we could not use it. The area is lovely and luckily we were on the go every day. Unsure why people find this such a great place and would go back.
