Gennadi Grand Resort

1. Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi covers almost the entire hotel area, but in some spots, it may not work or is often very weak, though it's available almost everywhere. You won't be able to stream outside your room, but Instagram loads fine. Overall, the Wi-Fi is average. Inside the room, the Wi-Fi is much better, but there's another issue: the Wi-Fi networks in the room and across the hotel are different, so you have to constantly switch between them manually as your phone won't always do it automatically. On the balcony, the Wi-Fi worked poorly since it’s not quite the room but also not yet the hotel’s common area. As a result, I couldn't sit on the balcony and surf the internet. Even Instagram wouldn't load. 2. Restaurants and bars. There are many restaurants and bars on the hotel grounds, but you need to make reservations at the restaurants preferably a day in advance, as there is high demand. Download the hotel app and make restaurant reservations through it. To get to the village of Gennadi, you can either take a bus (we didn’t use it because the bus didn’t look very appealing) or a taxi, which takes 30 minutes to arrive, and there’s no guarantee of getting a taxi back. To order a taxi back to the hotel, you need to ask the staff at the restaurant in the village, as the hotel reception suggested. We did that, but the restaurant staff told us that all the taxis were busy and ended up driving us back to the hotel for free. You can walk to Gennadi village, but it’s mostly along the highway. We decided not to. Once, we walked to the village along the beach, but it was exhausting. There's Uber, but we didn’t try it. The reception told us it's a new service in the area, and it’s not working well yet. 3. Hotel app. Make more use of the hotel app – through it, you can order food and drinks while sitting on the beach or by the pool, and everything will be brought to you. 4. Room amenities. Finally, a hotel with an electronic display in the rooms where you can select signs like "clean room" or "do not disturb." I hope it's not just a display and that when you select "clean room," the request actually goes to housekeeping and they come to clean. 5. Overall. The hotel grounds and rooms are excellent. 6. Beach. The beach is very close, and the sea is great. But the beach is rocky, meaning it’s not sandy but has lots of small stones, so it’s better to buy special shoes in advance. 7. On-site store. There’s a store on the hotel grounds where you can buy almost everything, from alcohol to special shoes for the rocky beach. 8. Service. Excellent service everywhere. 9. Reception area. The lobby near the reception seems to be cleaned with some smelly chemical. There's always a strong, distinct odor there. At first, I thought someone had used too much cheap perfume, but since the smell is always there, it’s probably the floors or something else being treated. If you're sensitive to smells or have allergies, be careful. 10. Tips. Unfortunately, this hotel, like almost every

5 stars doesn't cover this. Fantastic service & second to none. Every staff member in the hotel were welcoming and so friendly and always had a smile on their face. The food was fantastic (especially the lunch salads) & had lots of options throughout. The style of the hotel and the quality of the room was faultless - modern, clean, fresh & tidy. The only fault i have for this hotel is the location (Lindos is the best visit which is gorgeous 20-30mins taxi) & the lack of beach. But I'm not a beach person so makes no difference to me. But both of these faults have no impact on the stay at this hotel.

My wife and I have recently returned home from our honeymoon which we spent at Gennadi Grand Resort, and it is by far the best hotel and holiday experience that we have had to date. We had a Junior Suite with Sea View and Private Pool, and the room was incredible. We could see the main pool and seafront from our room so the view was very good. We could also see/hear the evening entertainment from our room which was an added bonus. I couldn’t recommend the private pool highly enough, there is plenty of room in the pool and we had the sun from 7am-5pm, so we found we only had to leave the pool for food and drinks, with the pool bar being a 30 second walk away. All three of the a la carte restaurants were very good, with our favourite being the Mediterranean by the main pool. I would note that we were originally told we could book once a week (and the sheet we were given said this too), so we booked all three for the first few days, but then we later found out you can use these once per stay. We stayed for 10 days, so we would have spaced these out over the stay had we known this. The buffet restaurant was however very good for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a range of options every night which were vey high quality. We couldn’t speak more highly of the hotel staff. The reception team were always extremely helpful, and the staff in the a la carte and buffet restaurants were always polite with excellent service. Specifically, Penia and Eirini who worked in the Grand Bar and Wet Bar made our stay even better. They were incredibly polite and helpful, but also very good fun and we were always glad to see them when they were working. We’d have liked to thank them personally if we had the chance as they’re both a credit to the hotel. The hotel is slightly remote, but it is only a 20 minute walk to the nearest town Gennadi and the staff are always very happy to help with booking taxis. They also run regular excursions, we went on the day trip to Rhodes Old Town (an hours drive and you’re there for 3 hours) which goes via Lindos (you’re here for 2.5 hours) which is highly recommended. If you go to Lindos which is only 30 minutes away, I’d highly recommend “Ginger Lindos” as a bar to get a drink - incredible views and tucked away so very quiet in comparison to the rest of the bars here and with better views. The only negative (which isn’t their fault at all) was that there is a €10 a day ‘local tax’ for the rooms which is payable on arrival. This is the same across all hotels, but it was an extra €100 on arrival which we hadn’t expected so it’s something to be aware of, particularly for longer stays. This is the first time I’ve left a review for a hotel, and I wanted to make sure I did as I would recommend a stay here to anyone considering it.

My friend and I have just returned from 10 nights at GGR (our second visit). I am very lucky to be well travelled and consider this one of the best resorts I have stayed in. If you are aiming for a relaxing, special holiday, look no further. I also rarely go back to the same place twice and am already considering a third holiday here. We arrived late and were welcomed with a glass of bubbles and delicious chicken salad wraps in our room as the restaurants were closed. This was hugely appreciated. Rooms- clean, modern, perfect. Beds and pillows v comfy. We opted for a garden view, private pool room which we do not regret. I actually emailed in advance to request a specific block and this was honoured on arrival. Lili our housekeeper was great and left us some flowers, and a bottle of bubbly on a couple of occasions. Thank you Lili! The entire resort is well kept and spotless. Food and drink- buffet excellent and wide variety of choice to suit everyone. The presentation of the food for a buffet was excellent. We dined in all the a la cartes and they were all delicious. Wet bar by main pool also fab. An excellent choice of cocktails, the bramble was our favourite. Pools- always a choice of sunbeds. We stayed by the main pool or the relax pool and back to our room pool for the afternoon sun. Lunchtime live music around the pool was great- saxophonist giving Ibiza vibes was one of our favourites. Nice addition this time round of the hotel app Xclusive on our phones, which made ordering lunch or cocktails to our sunbed was a lovely treat. Also book your a la cartes through the app too. Very easy. Beach- pebbly, sea shoes a good idea. Nice addition of the caravan type bar and bean bags down there to watch the world go by. Spa- welcoming staff and excellent choice of treatments. We both had a signature massage and it was great. Facilities are award winning and you can see this is deserved. Extras- we opted for a floating breakfast one morning as we were celebrating my birthday. It's an additional 140E and an extravagant treat but it was exceptional and so much fun. I would recommend it if you're looking for something extra special. Last but not least the staff- all kind, friendly and welcoming. Special shout outs to Penia in the grand bar, Costas in Ble/Ouzo, Paris who seemed to look after us everywhere (!) and Giannis (front of house). They went above and beyond and are a credit to the hotel. Penia had actually met my parents when they came here on holiday a few weeks prior and she was looking out for me on this trip, I was greeted like family. The team go above and beyond to make your stay fabulous and nothing is too much- thank you team! We also took the bus to Lindos one evening for dinner. The bus stop is out the front of hotel and costs a few euros. Taxi back 35E. I would thoroughly recommend Mythos for dinner too- owner George is fab and remembered us from our last trip. We booked this hotel via a touroperator which told us that the hotel was new. We‘ve read some reviews saying the hotel is not ready yet but we did not expect so many issues. The room we booked was supposed to be suite advertised by the touroperator as being 64m2 and on the hotel own webpage featuring a two rooms with a physical separation (door). What we‘ve got was a junior suite with no separation and a third bed for our daughter in our bedroom. Needless to say this was not what we expected and it ruined any activity post our daughter going to sleep. Also the sea view was unfortunately ruined by the lack of a proper garden (we had only a big dry slice of land in front of the shore). The sand was dark and full of pebbles (no castles in the sand possible). All around the hotel there are still open constructing and gardening going on, cables lying around, rooms being furnished with people already inside (we’ve got some curtains), private pools being all cloudy and dirty, etc. The room was very poorly equipped (no storage room), bed and cushions very uncomfortable. The shower was outside the main room but the loo inside??? The only positive things about the hotel was the restaurants (food was generally good), the big pools and the animation. One of the most annoying thing was the constant fire alarm test which were supposed to take two days but took at least 7, and sometimes in the night up to 6 alarm calls. The reception personell was kind but not at all responsive. They received and thanks us for the feedback but didn’t actually do anything about it. The last day I managed to speak to a sales manager of the hotel which also showed very responsive, and promised to reply to our written complaint. I am really looking forward to her reply. In total the hotel has potential and maybe in a couple of years it will really be beautiful but this yer it was really disappointing.

It is a newly built structure, not yet fully built, which employs staff who are mostly unfriendly and without a shred of humanity. In short, I stayed there for 14 days and for the last day of stay I asked well in advance, expected my bad health conditions, to be able to stay after payment up to 19.00 on the day of departure, as well as provided by the same structure, in the room I occupied or in another, and then go to the airport of Rhodes and return to Italy with a flight organized for that hour by the Agenzia Francorosso. This possibility was however denied to me, despite the availability of many empty rooms, forcing me to wander, even with further damage to my health, until 4.00 am the following day, or for a good 16 hours, when I returned in the home in Italy. All this premised, I wish with all my heart that the owner and who manages this structure can be in the near future, in my same health conditions and be treated in the same way.
