Leo Hotel

We recently enjoyed a fabulous 5 night stay at the Leo Hotel and we absolutely loved it. What a fabulous location, right in the heart of the old town of Rethymno. It's so lovely to be able to step out of the door and straight into the little streets and alleyways of this beautiful old town, with plenty of lovely restaurants, bars and shops to choose from. In spite of being so central, it was quiet in the hotel and we slept very well. The hotel itself is a former Venetian residence and it far exceeded our expectations. Our room was large and beautiful, beds were comfortable and all was kept spotlessly clean. Breakfast can be purchased whenever you want it, it is good value, very tasty and plentiful! We had hired a car and we always managed to find a free parking space around the fortress which is just 5 mins walk away. Best of all is the warm welcome you will receive from Eleni and Richard and team. They are just fantastic. Eleni gave us tips for the best beaches and places to visit. She even helped me in my quest to learn Greek!! What a fantastic stay, get it booked, you won't regret it! Thanks so much. Don't forget to come and visit us in Devon one day. Love Louise and Ben xx

Stop in the Leo Cafe, part of Leo hotel. Had a small lunch, toasted sandwich and a baguette. Baguette toasted: aka burnt: nasty processed ham inside. Coffee au lait made with UHT milk (unpleasant) Then over charged!

Return visit: just as exceptional as 14 years before. Boutique, charming hotel, elegant, spacious, romantic bedrooms with lovely, high quality, roomy bathrooms in the heart of old Rethymno near the harbor and the fort. Ekeni is a marvelous host: kind, caring, efficient. The breakfast is fabulous: either sit inside or outside at the little tables. Highly recommend this hotel for its elegant charm, friendly reception, and calm oasis in the heart of the bustling city.

Our host Eleni showed us the beautiful side of Crete hospitality & people - helpful, gracious & kind. We were a group of 2 couples & enjoyed our stay at Leo very much. It’s location in the charming Old Town & proximity to everything you need (beach & restaurants literally 5-10 min walk, car parks within mins & tourists sites within walking distance) and ease of getting in & out of Rethymno if using as a base. It is a hotel in the middle of an Old Town - so we should expect some late & early morning noise of people going about their lives getting to work or closing up shops or just tourists walking by downstairs. Enjoy the architectural beauty of the building, cleanliness & general feel of being in a home away from home. We enjoyed our short one week stay very much - thank you Eleni!

Excellent location, right in the heart of the old city. Perfect for exploring all major sights in Rethymon. The building is an old Venetian house, beautifully restored. Steep stairs with no lift - the hotel does warn prospective guests about this. Whilst our stay was pleasant enough, there is not much emphasis on service. The reception desk is only open during business hours. Rooms are not serviced daily, even for basics such as rubbish removal (toilet paper is not flushed in Crete) and beds are not made. A kettle is provided, but not even the minimum tea/coffee is provided. There is a small bar fridge, but electricity was interrupted when the rooms was not occupied, so it was not possible to keep items cold. Our "triple" room was extremely tight for two adults; not sure how we would have managed with a third person, even a child. Main door is locked when reception not open - it was very difficult to unlock from outside until the local restaurateur came to our rescue and showed us the "glitch". Also main door is locked at night, with exit requiring use of the key - this would be problematic in the event of a fire as we could not identify any other fire escapes. Overall, this was an ok place for a base to explore Rethymon, with the convenience of the central location over-riding all the negatives. However, this property could be so much more if hospitality, rather than utility were to be the focus. It is unlikely that I would stay here again as there are many well-priced options in Rethymon that offer better value.

Nous nous sommes arrêtées à cette adresse pour déjeuner et le cadre est très sympa dans une petite ruelle piétonne typique de l’île. Les prix sont très abordables et on y mange bien. Personnel agréable. Je recommande. Plats grecs très bien cuisinés
