The Lakeside

We stayed in the room at the very top. It had a window built into a sloping roof. I am 6 ft 3 and could just about make out a sea view from it. My wife is five ft nothing so had no hope. That window could do with a clean as it was the only source of natural light in the room. The lamp in the room didn't work. Some of the furniture in the room was also past its best and my wife didn't find the beds comfy although me and my daughter thought they were fine. The shower was ok but the whole room could do with a refurbishment. The other rooms I've seen pictures of on here look much better so maybe we just got unlucky. On trip advisor it also says this hotel has free parking which isn't the case you have to park over the road aprox 500 meters away it's 5 quid for 24 hours. I didn't feel very good about leaving the car there overnight it's very open and not very secure. They also don't offer breakfast. We were greeted by a young girl who was pleasant and explained everything. Other than that we were out and about all of the two days we stayed there and didn't see any other staff. You pay for what you get and for what we paid it was fine. But nothing more and could be easily improved with some simple touches.

We were helped by Irene on Saturday afternoon after our Air BnB was not booked by host We had to attend wedding at 1800 and only place available in the vicinity was Lake side We were pleasantly surprised by the size of room and the views Comfortable for 3 adults and a teenager The whole building appeared recently done up Appeared busy neighbourhood but was rather quiet The views from the room were very good over the bay. Check in was appropriately arranged and place is adequate for an overnight stay on a short trip Second floor has best views Elderly might find climb a bit difficult It was sound and efficient for our needs at last minute Thanks a lot Irene

Nicely located near beach and restaurants you receive a friendly welcome on arrival. Room was clean , shower water nice and hot , plenty of tea and coffee and the room was warm. Not luxurious of course but then nor was the price point. Overall reccommended.

Comfortable bed in a clean room. I like the location, being so close to the sea, and also being able to go to the Redcar train station to catch a train to visit nearby Saltburn to see the pier and walk along the coastal path with the fantastic scenery and pubs.

I stayed at the Lakeside on Tuesday this week with my sister . A very warm welcome from Ray ,friendly and nothing was to much trouble . The rooms are spacious and very clean the view of the boating lake and the sea from the room was glorious . After spending the day in Redcar we came back to my room where my sister Ray and i made a cuppa pulled up the chairs to the terraced window and enjoyed the view. Ray and his sister gave us directions and recommended the Lobster a local pub five minutes away ,very warm and friendly. I cant rate this lovely guest house or the owner high enough ,ten out of ten and higher ,Ray even took us to the station the following morning . If you haven't discovered this lovely guest house give yourselves a treat . thanks from Christine and Ray

Stayed for 3 nights on a room only basis. Irene & Ray were really great. Irene’s communication with us leading up to our stay was excellent and Ray made us feel extremely welcome on arrival. Lovely, clean en-suite room overlooking the sea. Would definitely recommend.

Great location - overlooking the boating lake and sea. Owner gave a very warm welcome. Our family room, one double, one single bed looked like it hadn’t been slept in before - the room was immaculately clean and tidy. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels over the years and readily admit that I’ve become a bit of a hotel snob, The Lakeside, considering the price, is definitely punching well above its weight. I’d highly recommend the accommodation to all.
