Gala Residence Villa Giovanna

We stayed as a family of four here for a few days in the shoulder season in March. Breakfast is included. We had a room with a queen size bed and two twin beds. The room was large enough for two adults and two children. The location was excellent and just off of the main Piazza in Ravello. It does take a number of steps to get to the Piazza though from the hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and were also a huge assistance in navigating some of the travel issues to tour the Amalfi coast. This location is not easy to get to, but for those who are interested in that, it is a great location.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and the biggest reason we chose it is the photo of the pool that is their lead photo on TripAdvisor. It was disappointing upon arrival to learn that the pool is NOT on the property, but on a neighboring property. Guests of Gala can use the pool for 20 Euro per person, per day. No thanks! Otherwise, this is a beautiful and delightful place to stay. Our room was modern and VERY clean. Luisa - who was at the desk when we arrived, was courteous and helpful. The breakfast was good and the deck to eat on, while very hot, was a beautiful view. There's a little feral cat on the property, Lucy, who brings a lot of joy to the guests. To note - if you're staying in Ravello because you want to visit the Amalfi Coast but you're on a budget, be aware that it is NOT easy to get up and down the mountain unless you want to spend 40 Euro on a taxi. The going rate is 20 Euro per person. The public bus is a mini-bus, as full size buses cannot get up the narrow roads. It runs hourly but only has 22 seats and they do not allow standing in the aisle and depending on the driver, do not allow luggage. We learned this the hard way trying to get up to Ravello from Amalfi. The bus was full within seconds, and we had luggage so we had to spend 50 Euro in taxi fare to get to Ravello. However, once you're in Ravello it's a quaint town with great views and some excellent restaurants, shops and cultural destinations.

Villa Giovanna was located on the bottom of the hill in Ravello. It was within walking distance to the main square. You will have to go up some very steep steps. It was a well appointed but simple room and breakfast was included on this quaint terrace.

We spent 3 nights in Ravello and were very happy to have chosen this lovely hotel. The views are breathtaking and the property itself is spotlessly clean and well-maintained with fresh, bright decor. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were well looked after throughout our stay. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight. Ravello is hilly and there are a lot of steps to negotiate in order to reach the main square, so a reasonable degree of fitness is required!

Stayed at Gala Residence, Villa Giovanna in Ravello for 4 nights. Firstly upon arrival the view from the front patio area is one of the best on the Amalfi coast. You will be mesmerised by the view of the ocean whilst eating an amazing freshly prepared breakfast Al fresco. The host sisters Luisa and Valentina are wonderful. From booking to arrival they responded quickly to messages and offered really useful information during our stay. We had a deluxe double room with balcony. Again with amazing views to the sea. The room was exceptionally clean, fresh crisp sheets and soft white towels. Honestly one of the cleanest well maintained rooms I’ve stayed in. Best sleeps I’ve had in years. Not sure if it was the great mattress or the fresh air and relaxing environment but I will definitely be returning in the near future. Ravello is a beautiful town quieter than many on the coast and this wonderful residence is without doubt the place to stay.
