Maitai Rangiroa

All the accommodations consist of similar-sized bungalows. They are clean, equipped with air conditioning, and feature large hot showers. While there are a few ladies at the front desk, if you encounter any issues (as we did—when we first arrived, we had to change our bungalow due to a broken A/C), make sure to ask for Loana. She is outstanding—competent, attentive, and always on top of things. She truly gets results! Unfortunately, the other staff members were not as helpful. The grounds at Le Maitai could use a bit more attention, but the bar and pool area are very nice. The included breakfast was average, and lunch was similarly mediocre. A heads-up: there is no "free" airport pickup, as we were charged $22 for a round-trip ride, even though the airport is only about a mile away.

Small, charming, lovely. and accessible. Small hotel with bungalows around a garden. Lovely dining area with a view of the ocean and lovely sunsets every night. I am a wheelchair user - there were concrete pathways throughout the garden, to the bungalow, to the restaurant. Incredibly courteous and warm staff. The atoll is quiet, so come to relax and enjoy the views and lagoon excursions.

This tiny little resort is very basic at best. Air conditioning worked at half power despite the staff trying to fix it. Phone did not work at all to call front desk or out. Internet was nonexistent even when you got close to the main signal. No beach, stairs to the water but very rocky or a metal ladder of the pier. Everyone leaves by 8:15 am for a tour otherwise there is nothing to do. From all the islands we visited (5) this was the most basic of food despite a good looking menu. Lamb was tough, muscles were chewy….only nice part was the staff.

This resort isn’t for anyone please do your own research because I didn’t do it and it cost me losing time and money the bungalow isn’t what they said in their site the condition isn’t good you will have mosquitoes inside the bungalow during the day and the night because the front door big gaps allows the mosquitoes to get inside the bungalow during during the day and night.The room has A/C but isn’t cooling the room so I have to ask for fan to help cool the room.when I emailed the resort about if we can Snorkel at the bungalow they said yes so we was happy about that but when we got here I found out there is no way anyone can snorkel here but you can hire someone to take you snorkel somewhere else.

Stayed in Rangiroa prior to catching Windstar cruise in Tahiti (separate review). After flying from US, caught inter-island flight of 50 minutes. Hotel Maitai is a short ride from airport. Much better than a two star, but not a four star either. If you’re looking for plush resort, you’ll need to pick a different island. Rangiroa is quaint tropical island with great snorkeling and scenery. Check out snorkeling location called the “Aquarium”. And make sure to visit Blue Lagoon with its pink sand beach. Bungalows are more than adequate, even better than I expected. Showers had plenty of hot water and air conditioning kept room cool. One knock: WiFi was spotty and slow, so used my ATT International plan to access Internet. Breakfast was included for us. Was fine, nothing special. Lunch and dinner were decent too, but not luxury (I didn’t expect it to be). Food and drinks were pricey…but it is a remote atoll. Would recommend staying here. Loved the relaxed island atmosphere and beautiful water views. Just don’t expect a high-end resort.

MaiTia is a beautiful bungalow resort looking out over the ocean. We were given a welcome drink and flower lei upon arrival. We had an ocean front bungalow and enjoyed the amazing view and sound of the waves from our room. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The air conditioning kept the room cool. We enjoyed hanging out at the small pool overlooking the ocean. We had the half board package with our stay which included breakfast and dinner. I would probably skip the dinner part since I don’t eat much fish and many menu options were fish dishes. Note that food is relatively expensive but that’s everywhere in French Polynesia. I would definitely stay here again.
