We have been loyal customers of Toison d’Or (Riviera Villages) for the past 10-15 years, staying at this resort on at least 6-7 occasions. Unfortunately, this most recent stay was nothing short of a disaster. What was once a cherished destination has now become a dilapidated shadow of its former self. Upon our arrival, we were assigned accommodation that was shockingly below the standard we had come to expect. When we raised our concerns with the receptionist, they acknowledged the issues and apologized, but we were told there were no alternative accommodations available. This left us with no choice but to endure a stay that was, quite frankly, appalling. Exterior: The exterior of our accommodation was in severe disrepair, with tiles literally falling off the roof. The outlook from the accommodation was far from the picturesque scenes we had previously enjoyed. Toison d’Or’s (Riviera Villages) response? “It’s true they are not in the condition they used to be,” and “We supply curtains so you do not need to look at the view.” These dismissive comments are indicative of their complete disregard for their guests’ experience. Children’s Room: We were horrified to discover screws protruding from the walls at head height, posing a serious danger to our young children. Additionally, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls. And what did Toison d’Or have to say about this? Absolutely nothing. They offered no explanation, no apology, and no action to rectify the situation. Shower Room: The wallpaper in the shower room wasn’t just peeling; it was infested with visible mold. When we pointed this out, the response was, “This can happen.” Such a nonchalant attitude towards guests’ health and safety is utterly unacceptable. Kitchen: The kitchen was another disaster zone. The cupboard doors were hanging off their hinges, and the refrigerator took a staggering five days just to reach a temperature cold enough for food storage. To top it off, the gas hob malfunctioned on our last day and had to be shut off because it was dangerous. Toison d’Or’s (Riviera Villages) response was simply to turn it off. As loyal customers who spent over 4,500 euros for a stay of less than two weeks, we anticipated a certain standard of quality and comfort. Unfortunately, what we experienced was a significant decline in both, with no effort made to resolve the serious issues we encountered. Despite reaching out multiple times, our messages were ignored, and when we finally received a response, we were questioned about the delay in lodging our complaint. I sincerely hope that senior management at Riviera Villages will address these concerns and take action to resolve the incompetence of the staff, particularly the concierge (Corie, Reception Manager & Pauline, Guest Relation Manager.), at Toison d'Or. To anyone considering Toison d’Or (Riviera Villages): do yourself a favour and make alternative arrangements. As other reviews state this place is no longer worth your time or mone
