Raetihi Lodge

Great place to de-stress. Amenities top class, walk up the 'steep bit' hill is quite steep for those visiting from Australia! View from top of hill spectacular. Hosts friendly, massage divine, food delicious and great portions. Cocktails very easy to drink in the lounge.

We recently attended a birthday celebration here and were able to do a lot or a little depending on our ability. It is an absolute haven and you can take a walk into the bush, ride a bike, go golfing or quietly read a book. Beds were wonderful and the rooms a great size with a private balcony. No request seemed too much trouble for the staff. Of course we ate too much as the food was to die for! Now working out when we can go back.

There is only one issue with Raetihi lodge and that’s the fact at somepoint you have to leave! We were blown away by this place, it might be a cliche but these are memories that will literally last a lifetime. The location and surroundings are stunning like a postcard! with lots of walks you can do close by. The lodge gives you use of bikes and kayaks and you can even take a very short walk to see glow worms. The room and lodge itself had everything you could need. There was a sea view deck outside your room which was very private. Beds are big and comfortable and the nights are very cool. You have use of other rooms to lounge about in which has a pool table in and a TV. Don’t forget to look up at night, some of the best starts I’ve seen have been here. Second must is to have a massage (Julie has become world famous) highly recommend! Probably the best parts though Is the food and just how accommodating and friendly everyone here is. It’s little things like being called by your first name and people taking the time to ask about you and how your day was. These people really made it and you felt like you were part of the family, nothing was to much trouble. The food was amazing, my parter had some gluten free food which they went above and beyond for. With breakfast, lunch and dinner cooked by an amazing chef you definitely will not go hungry! We had an amazing dinner for New Year’s Eve when we stayed during this time, they again really went out of their way to make it a special night. Liane, Alan and the Raetihi family thank you so much! Coming from a travel background I have extremely high expectations and Raetihi lodge blew them away! There is so much to do or not to do if that's your preference .....have a massage, kayak to the shipwreck, play a round of golf, grab a mountain bike, swim, paddle board, go for a walk, read a book in the library, or just chill with a glass of wine or cocktail waiting in anticipation for your next gourmet meal! The room and lodge itself had everything you could need. There was a sea view deck outside your room which was very private. Beds are big and comfortable. You have use of other rooms to lounge about in, plenty of room for an extended family or even a corporate group. Probably the best parts though is the food and just how accommodating and friendly everyone is. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. We had an amazing seven course degustation dinner for New Year’s Eve and they went out of their way to make it a special night with games and fireworks. Liane, Alan, Franck, Elodie and the Raetihi family, thanks for giving us such a memorable holiday, we will be back for sure!!
