Girandella Valamar Collection Resort

Quiet hotel for adults only. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The surroundings are neat and clean. Free sunbeds and umbrellas available from the pool to the beach. Lots of natural shade. Free sun towels are available at the pool. The rooms are neat, clean and modernly furnished with plenty of storage space. In the room is a "wine fridge" which is great for cooling both wine bottles and water bottles. You get 2 wine glasses and 2 water glasses too. Breakfast and Brunch are buffet style. For breakfast, there is a classic range of dishes from savory to sweet, as well as warm dishes and fruits. Brunch offers various types of cheeses, meat products (salami, prosciutto, etc.), vegetables, hot dishes (front kitchen) and salads. In the afternoon at 17:00 there is an aperitif, which offers hotel guests finger food and sparkling wine. The only cons is that the food offer is the same every day. At least for Brunch, maybe some dishes could be changed/replaced. Hotel guests have a discount in 2 restaurants, La Pentola and Black and Blue Steakhouse. Discounts can only be redeemed with a prior reservation at the hotel reception.

Good quality modern facilities, very clean inside and outside, scenic and quiet location, helpful staff. However spolit somewhat by the A/C being turned off and evening adult entertainment being cancelled. Apparently the resort was due to close a week or so later, but that's no excuse for stopping facilities and events for the existing paying customers. Temperatures overnight were approx 25°deg, so uncomfortable. We were advised to leave the balcony doors open overnight to cool the room, but the curtains were insufficient to prevent insects entering. Also opening the doors resulted in the ceiling fan switching off so there was no air flow and therefore didn't reduce the temperature. The lack of any evening entertainment for adults was disappointing as we specifically selected this hotel/resort for this advertised feature. Additionally there was no local alternative in the nearby village. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but it could have been improved without these issues. The area is somewhat remote with limited activities, especially towards the end of the season. But we still recommend the resort and area, for those with young children and/wanting a quite relaxed holiday.

I absolutely see why this is a travellers choice award. We stayed a couple of weeks ago and had a fantastic time. The cleanliness was unbelievable. We saw staff cleaning every morning, as well as gardeners some days. The whole resort was spotless. The kids wanted to do the floating inflatables assault course every day, we probably should have purchased the week long pass! They also opted to be dragged around behind a speedboat on an inflatable sofa and absolutely LOVED it. We hired bikes from the cycle shop and cycled into Rabac one day. I have NEVER seen clearer, bluer sea water it's a stunning harbour town/fishing port. We also hired quad bikes and had a tour to the local mine led by Andre from the cycle hire shop. He was fantastic. We really enjoyed it. I was nervous beforehand as I hadn't driven one before but he explained everything very clearly and shared lots of interesting local knowledge! The scenery was something else.....a trip into the coal mine fascinating. Needless to say the quad bikes were immaculately clean! We played mini golf a few times too. Finally, the state of the art computer games room was very well designed and my kids enjoyed playing on one of the consoles there for an hour after dinner while my husband and I enjoyed a cocktail overlooking the beach. I also enjoyed the gym and the water aerobics class. We had a sea view family room in the family resort part of the resort. It had two rooms separated with a sliding door and a balcony. It was perfect for us. Impressed with this chain. A very slick outfit. The staff were a real credit to them. We had half board and ate at the restaurants at neighbouring hotels for lunch. Our hotel buffet was good quality and a broad selection. I am vegan but always had options. So, it was my first time in Croatia but hopefully not my last. Totally recommend this resort!!!

There are wonderful reviews on TripAdvisor and Google for this hotel and we were very excited to visit Croatia for the first time. My emails were promptly answered and they were able to make me reservations before we arrived (dinner, spa, etc.) my husband, 6 year old and I decided to stay in the V-Level suites. We also read great things about their kids club. It was strange that on the email confirm it says they will arrange airport pickup but then when I asked they said they didn’t actually have it? This was the case with quite a few things throughout our visit. On arrival we met with the V-Level concierge and got our room 6302. They gave us a map, some vouchers (there are vouchers for everything) and the cart took us to our room. We arrived to a welcome bottle of Prosecco for my husband’s birthday- that was very nice and appreciated. The room and the grounds for the most part (with the exception of some people letting their dogs poop on the path) were immaculately clean. Our room was large and had everything for kids- a step stool in the bathroom and their own toiletries. The layout was weird- 2 showers, 3 sinks and 1 toilet. 2 toilets + 1 shower and 2 sinks would make more sense. I think someone else mentioned this, the AC is standard at 22 then you set it to 19 (lowest) and it never actually gets cold. Every night I have woken up sweaty and uncomfortable because it doesn’t cool down enough during the night. There was a lot of confusion of what is V-Level vs not. You have keycards instead of wristbands to get in and out of everywhere (but Maro suites has Wristbands for their hotel). You can go to your restaurant - only Momenti, but not others. It says on the app you can exchange your meal plan for restaurants in Labin but that’s not told to you at any other point. Why not give us a list of what you actually get when you arrive so it’s not confusing? I think they just need a new communications director to get everything straight on all forms of communication and then send it out. We went to the spa twice, my second treatment with Patricia was amazing. She was phenomenal and it was very affordable 75 minutes for 60 euros, I wish I went every day. At the V-Level pool beach bar Marina was excellent and it was great service. 5* for the Happy Hour from 4pm-5pm. The pool and area were nice but they didn’t have chair service and there was such a limited menu of what they even had at the bar. They had 2 wines, Beer and cocktails. Then for happy hour they had a delicious local bubbly wine, BUT then they didn’t serve it anywhere else in the hotel or sell it at the bar. Why? It made no sense, which leads me to my next issue which by far was the largest issue for us. The food. Breakfast had a few choices on a set menu, but it was the same every day. The dinners at the restaurant were delicious. There were different menus every night but they were more on the fancy side not casual. But if you didn’t like anything on the set menu that night

Stunning resort. Stayed in Designed for Adults part of resort, travelling in UK May half term holiday. Fabulous weather, 23-24 degrees, perfect for lying by pool and just warm enough for a dip in the sea! (very clean pebbly beaches). This is a special place, everything felt excellent quality, clean, modern, luxury, very friendly staff - they could not be more helpful. Very pleasant walk into older part of Rabac, with a selection of bars and restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacy etc. surrounded by very picturesque hilly mountains covered in trees, very lush and green. There is even a little train to hop on and off en route into Rabac! It was the start of the season, so still quiet, which suited us as we had no problem booking tables in restaurants, finding sun loungers and even had the pool almost to ourself some of the time! Absolutely stunning views of the bay and the island Cres from the pool. A very relaxing holiday, with an array of activity options (cycling, scooters, mini golf, paddle boarding, kayaking, diving etc) for the energetic! You will not be disappointed by this resort!

We are returning to Valamar Girandella for several years now. We have stayed in both Maro and Family hotel and both facilities offer a lot of possibilities for an active vacation We would especially like to praise the excellent service: Ladies that take care of the cleanliness of the rooms. Everyone is extremely professional, and the rooms are kept impeccably clean every day. Maro and Marblu restaurants - the restaurant managers (Rafaela and Kristian) and staff are friendly, fast, unobtrusive, and the food offer is diverse for both children and adults.
