We stayed here for two nights as a family of four. I was told over the phone with their booking service that there were three queen size beds, two separate bedrooms, and the hotel recently added a spa on site. Later, the owner called me directly and offered me his chalet suite, saying that it was just as good as the room I booked or better. I don’t think the original so-called deluxe suite ever even existed. When I checked into the actual room, I thought I was being pranked. We ended up staying in the downstairs of a renovated garage. There were no bedrooms; there were no other rooms. The hot water tap in the bathroom didn’t work, the water smelled funny, and the blinds covering the windows were broken. If there was any kind of a deal in terms of price, that would’ve been fine, but we actually blew our budget booking this place at almost $800 for two nights! As a high school English teacher, that means I spent almost half of one of my paycheques for two nights. The only reason my husband agreed to this, was because I described all the luxury we would be enjoying for the weekend, and I really needed a break. When I showed the owners the confirmation booking email that didn’t at all match the room provided, they said it had nothing to do with them. They blamed everything on their booking service, ******* I think. However, I never called ******* at all. All I did was press the phone number that is listed on their website. Don’t make the same mistake I did! I’m sure the owner will dispute my review publicly, but had I researched and read all of the other reviews on Google and on Facebook, I never would have called their phone number in the first place.

We booked the Inn specifically because it was advertised on ******* as family owned and in a nice area. Unfortunately we were made to feel quite unwelcome when we arrived. Ignored by the owner until asked if we were waiting to check-in he responded that his son will attend to us. We waited longer and he proceeded to take our money for the room without even a hello. We then had to wait for them to find the key to the room so I started a conversation about the fire pit in the backyard. We were eventually shown to our room (up many flights of stairs) and it was clear that they had misrepresented the “deluxe” room we thought we had booked because ALL the rooms SHARE bathrooms. If we had known we wouldn’t have booked here but it had been a long day of travelling so we decided to put up with it and stay for the night. We decided to eat at the restaurant downstairs but unfortunately some of the hot dinner we ordered was cold in the center which we alerted the serving staff too. Subsequently my wife developed bad food poisoning from the meal and has been sick the last 2 days. During our stay ******* prompted us to provide a review and within 5 minutes of providing a balanced review noting these issues, the male owner was banging on our door - at 9pm at night when we were already on our pyjamas - suggesting we leave his hotel immediately (and would organise a refund through *******). He then started arguing with us about our experience. He only backed down and left when his wife intervened. As a result of this terrible encounter we went back through reviews on ******* and it shows many similar experiences from other travellers who also stayed here. I don’t recommend staying here.

Terrible experience and the owner is rude. Was promised on the phone when booking, a free breakfast, but the owner said the policy had changed. When we arrived the owner was not there. I called a second time and he hung up on me. John's wife was very pleasant and should become the face of the organization. The whole place needs a makeover. Fortunately for us there was nobody on the third floor so the shared bathroom with mold around the tub was effectively ours. Avoid this place like the place

We have eaten here 3/4 times when four wheeling through the area. Yesterday ( sept 17) we decided to stop in again as they accept dogs and it was always good service. We were really disappointed the food was not great it was cold, waaaay less than we got on previous trips there. Really disappointed as this is a cool little spot. Waterfront pub in Nackawic we ate at week before was amazing and service top notch. Hopefully the food improves and the quantity.

Crabbe Mountain Don’t If you would like to stay at this Inn (and I wouldn’t suggest it), do it now because I can’t imagine it will be around in a couple years. From what I gather, the Inn was shut down for many years and retaken up by its current owner, John; though it would seem, sort of like the uncovering of an ancient alien species lodged deep in the ice in the seminal 1982 film, “The Thing,” that this is a case where what was buried should have stayed that way. I made the mistake of not looking at reviews of this place too closely before we booked – yes the Inn has a relatively high rating, but only from less than 100 reviews, many of which you have to imagine are friends coaxed into leaving a five-star, “good food, good vibes” style pity review. The bad reviews, however, are much more telling and troublesome: the owner, John, seems to have multiple run-ins with guests, shouting matches, and overall bad vibes. In all honesty, up until the day of the check in I had only had good things to report – we were delayed one day in our travel and John (or a woman in the background of the phone call) suggested we push our stay ahead one day with no extra charge. This nicety did not prepare us for the unprofessionalism that would follow. Early on the day of our stay I received an ******* message from John, it seemed like something a friend would send and simply said, “What time are you arriving?”, to which I answered, “Sometime around 3.” And sure enough, a little after 3pm we rolled up to the Crabbe Mountain Inn, myself, my wife, and our 1-year old boy. It looked nice and inviting from the outside and the front door was wide open to receive us…well, sort of. When we walked in there were three women pacing around frantically, I said to one “hi, um…we are looking to check in?”, to which she answered, exasperated, “so are we!” Apparently John and family had picked a strange time to leave their Inn and head into town, with the only two groups booked that night left to wonder what to do. The other group had called John who gave them the code to the front door so they could go inside and wait at least; they had questions and concerns however: when does the restaurant open, when could a particular issue with their stay be solved, why is this essentially a hostel but priced as a hotel, why does their room smell like feces? They were more impatient than us and only waited around for a little over an hour before deciding to leave and go stay somewhere else. That was 1 of 2 bookings gone. We had decided to stay the course, however, as it is difficult traveling with a little baby all day and he needed some hot food. We waited, and waited, called, and called again – John was always “just on his way.” In one of our calls John told us to go behind the bar and get our room key. By the way, at no point in the day did he ever call us (or the other group) to let us know that he’d be late or send any self-check in directions, we had to put it together piece-meal by c
