Woodlands Hall Hotel

Positive - family friendly environment with indoor play area Negatives - organisation of staff, food quality, availability of drinks I have been to the woodlands on numerous occasions and generally satisfied (mainly due to the availability of the indoor childrens play area). However, durimg a trip today I was incredibly disappointed. To start when we arribed they did not have multiple drinks on tap due to waiting for a delivery. Food arrived very staggered, leaving childrens meals arriving 10 minutes after the adults (4 adults and 2 children eating). When arriving at the table the server dropped chips on the floor, simply commenting that it was only a couple and then running off. Rather than tidying up or offering to replace them. When the childrens meals eventually arrived they were missing bits, I asked the server about this and got told ut would be coming. After a further 15 minutes I went to follow up to be told someone would look into it (still nothing arrived). I returned to the bar again to ask about the missing bits at 40 minutes after the rest of the meal arrived and was offered no apology or compensation simply asked if I still wanted it. Generally left feeling very very disappointed as 'the chips were the best bit'.

It’s just very unwelcoming and unloved. I booked this hotel as they have electric car charging points. I called the night before my expected arrival to make sure they had chargers and how many. The man who answered the phone seemed as if he couldn’t be bothered to speak with me and advised that they had three changers on site. On arrival, two of the chargers where blocked by non electric cars which stayed stayed parked over night, lucky I was able to park, but if there had been another vehicle in need of a charge, they wouldn’t have been able to park. I couldn’t work out if the hotel was in the middle of being done up or if it was shutting down. But was definitely not inviting on arrival. Evening meal was lovely - but a stark difference to breakfast which wasn’t. My room was ‘fine’. Not the cleanest. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Never again, don't know how to cook a steak, ordered a MEDIUM serloin, 1st one came out resembling a charcoal, waitress asked if everything ok, i said i ordered medium this is more than well done, she asked if i wanted it cooked some more!!! So next one came out looking burned on the outside but blue inside, possibly the worst food experience ive had! I wouldn't ever eat out of this place again, stick to fishfingers and chips for the kids...

Lovely meals, surroundings are superb, sat out on the deck surrounded by fields. Always have a lovely meal here. Bar staff, and waiting on staff are lovely and always helpful. I had fish and chips, a light batter, and home made chips with mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce, yummy....

Christmas get together group of adults with SEN. I was working as part of the support team. Not many Christmas decorations were up considering it was a Christmas do. Bar was cold and a damp smell, a few people remarked about it. The festive music playing was barely audible. The walls in the dining room may be recently painted and there were building materials in the car park. Yes, the car park: poorly lit and uneven surface. Place setting had a side plate and knife but no bread roll or starter was served. Vegetables were served in dishes to self serve. Potatoes were undercooked, but generous portion of turkey. Eton Mess cream was off and meringue tasted a bit stale: lots of people left it. Most left early, but that was probably planned anyway. Two of our party did not show up because they had been there a few days previously and were very disappointed so cancelled. It's a shame, this place used to be so popular, maybe it's due to being out of season, but I wouldn't go back in summer to find out.

We held a party for 50 friends and family at Woodlands on 21 September, the venue was perfect. The hotel has several lovely function rooms, and we had exclusive use of a large private bar area, perfect to mingle and chat, before going into the bright attractive dining room. The hotel had laid on a fantastic buffet, well presented, and delicious. The staff were attentive and helpful. Highly recommend this venue, which is versatile, beautiful, large outdoor terrace and plenty of parking. Thank you
