Railway Ramblers' Rest

Great few days away - Right in the middle of a Red weather warning. Very accommodating went above and beyond in a storm and power cut. Making sure we were as comfortable as we could be . Pizza oven to cook on if we needed Room great , comfy bed, warm and cosy. Sadly didn’t get to use the hot tub due to the weather All amenities you need for a few days of walking and relaxation - We took our own bottles of wine and treats as it was my husband birthday. And a few things for breakfast. There is a Little basic shop within Ramblers Rest . Or several cafes if you want to treat yourself And a couple of pubs , a connivence store all within walking distance One negative the fridge in our room noisey

The accommodation was superb stayed here a number of times and will continue to do so Ideal base for a hiking moorland holiday. Would recommend to anyone wishing to visit Dartmoor suitable for families couples or groups of friends. Terry and Nikki the Ramblers Rest hosts are very friendly and helpful, making everyone feel welcome.

This is a great place to stay in the middle of Dartmoor. On the end of the main street with the local food and drink offerings just a few steps away. The room was great. Comfortable bed and kettle and coffee machine. Th enormous hot tub is amazing, and we made use of it in the evening, looking for stars between the clouds. We would definitely stya there agin.

Lovely clean room with comfortable bed & excellent facilities, all in a perfect location central to Dartmoor National Park. Very friendly & helpful hosts make the Ramblers Rest one of my favourite destinations for a short break. I’ll definitely be booking another stay next year & wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to friends & colleagues.

We have stayed at The Railway Ramblers Retreat twice before and Nikki & Terry are excellent hosts. Communication prior to your stay is superb; explaining how to find them, where to eat and the discounts available at various shops in Princetown. The rooms are extremely well-equipped with everything you could possibly need for self-catering - the beds are very comfortable too. Behind the property is a secure car park & their amazing ice-cream hut selling the most delicious ice-cream. Also from the car park are walks straight onto Dartmoor plus there are further walks into the moor from just behind the Visitor Centre opposite. We cannot recommend the Ramblers Retreat highly enough, and look forward to hopefully staying with them again in the future.

The Teeny Tiny Caravan is quirky, comfy and fabulous for a stay whilst out on the Moors! We stayed for three nights over a weekend whilst exploring the moors, we usually camp but there's a lot to be said for a nice comfy bed after a typically long cold wet yomp... the caravan is totally as described, teeny tiny but perfectly formed. Small and bijou, comfy bed, kitted out well with kettle with tea, coffee & milk (tiny fridge); it has it's own little garden area and is lit up at night with fairy lights - magical! No problem with Parking, you're on the edge of the car park and we got a space right outside our gate so no need to lug heavy bags, like a tent, into a field. The facilities at Ramblers Rest are great, an indoor toilet and shower a short walk across the car park - really clean, tidy and very plush for camping facilities, would have been happy with the quality of the bathroom in a nice hotel! There's also a huge jacuzzi, open until 10pm, so take your kit - it's private and once again, lovely, clean and well maintained. The food area has a pizza oven and cooking facilities, it's got a shelter and patio tables, plates, cups etc so again, a lovely little area to eat / drink after a walk - although we loved our little caravan patio area, we had breakfast coffee every morning down in the kitchen facilities. The couple that run the place are lovely, really helpful, kept in regular contact and came to introduce themselves. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough, will definitely be back.
