We stayed for 1 night en route from Shimla to Palampour. Check in was quick & easy. We had the Mountbatten Arch room, deluxe, which was huge. Very creaky floorboards! As it’s cold in the evenings in February there were 2 electric fires & electric blankets provided which made it cosy. The bathroom was simple but everything worked well. Breakfast buffet was good & omelettes excellent. Dinner was also buffet with good local home style options which we enjoyed. The staff looked after us well & were very efficient. The grounds were spacious with seating areas & we could walk ***** the road into the village.

Delightful hotel, gorgeous rooms, comfortable beds, friendly and quite helpful, but in the middle of nowhere, so limited activities. Pragpur is pretty cold in January so rooms were hard to heat. Staff had limited Knowledge of English so at times difficult to communicate. Would be a great find later in the year.

This old, converted mansion offers a series of colour co-ordinated and well finished rooms (located in both the main house and the buildings flanking the rear elevation). At the rear of the property there is a large lawned area where there is adequate seating for relaxing and a firepit in the evening. (You'll also find a double swinging seat and chip monks here.) Details: 1. ROOMS: Secured with a padlock on the exterior double doors, the rooms boast large double beds, aircon, heater, hair dryer, wifi and safe (although our safe was just left loose in the wardrobe). 2. EN SUITE: Modern bathroom, sufficient hot water (but remember to flick the switch for this 30 minutes before you want it) & toiletries. 3. FOOD: Great food although the choice at breakfast was a little restricted (but remember that this place is fairly isolated). 4. FACILITIES: There is a plunge pool (that we managed to fit 4 people in for a swim), it isn't heated but extra towels are provided. 5. STAFF: Very friendly 6. OTHER: As other visitors have commented, this hotel is fairly isolated with only the village next door to explore (to be honest we found this very relaxing but if you are looking for a lot of night life then...). All in all, we'd rate this as the best hotel on our tour.

We couldn't fault our stay at The Judge's Court. It's the perfect spot to break the long drive north from Delhi and is situated in a secluded location in the quite mountain village of Pragpur. We stayed on our way to and from Mcleodganj - the first time in the Kipling room and the second time in the Hardinge room. It was also the perfect spot to rest and take in delightful surrounds, including the gardens and orchards, the village itself (India's first heritage village), and I spent hours exploring the many treasures housed at the Judge's Court itself. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Offerings vary according to what is available so you can be guaranteed that whatever you order will be fresh. Breakfasts and dinner are usually taken in the formal dining room, but lunch, coffee and snacks can be had in the delightful courtyard or garden (perfect in the superb weather we experienced). At night pre dinner drinks are served in the bar or around the outdoor fire pit on warmer nights. Although our stay was planned as a stopover, next time I return it will be for the destination itself.

The Judge's Court is like stepping back in time to a bygone era. The owners have gone to great lengths to preserve the history of this beautiful house, now hotel. We had a room which opened up onto a terrace near the pool, it was really comfortable with an electric blanket for the cold weather and a/c for when it is hot. We stepped out of our room straight into an earful of birdsong among the trees. In fact the whole house is surrounded by mango, lychee, pear and other fruit trees and they were full of birds. So relaxing. The bar was comfortable with its open fire and old photographs and polo equipment. It was lovely sitting on the veranda looking out over the garden. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the dining room, again full of old photographs and memories of the house and family in years gone by. We took a walk through the old village nearby. The service was very good and we were very comfortable.

We had a room in the villas alongside the garden, wonderful old fashioned furniture. Comfy beds with electric blankets! Everything worked well although electric went off a couple of time during a thunder storm, it was great to sit on the verandah & watch the lightning. Friendly welcome & a couple of lovely dogs, some great pictures on the walls in the main building. Food was good & service fine. Had a nice walk to Pragpur village & they printed off a sheet with directions for us.

We believed that we were booking a garden view suite in a heritage hotel, direct with the hotel. In fact, we had inadvertently booked via an agency that gave every appearance of representing the hotel. On arrival we walked into the beautiful main hotel building that you see on the Judge’s Court website, but were assigned a large room without a view, in a more modern building adjacent to the main heritage hotel. This annexe is not mentioned on the Judge’s Court website at all. Whilst we were offered a room swap the next day we were only there for two nights and chose not to swap. The grounds were lovely and the staff were delightfully welcoming but almost everyone staying on our two nights was part of a tour group, which was what we felt the hotel focused on. This, ***** with the pleasant but could-be-better buffet meals, gave the place a slightly soulless feel. Not somewhere that we would return to as independent travellers, although the adjacent village was certainly interesting.

We recently spent two nights here whilst on a Cox & Kings tour. What a lovely hotel! All the staff and the owners were friendly and helpful. My wife is restricted to a gluten free diet and the chef was very helpful in ensuring that she could eat most items on the menu.
