We stayed at the Main Lodge of Kariega Game Reserve for two nights in February and had the most incredible time of our lives. From start to finish, everything was simply perfect. The insights we gained about nature and its wonders over those three days are truly indescribable. We were left breathless when we saw lions in the evening sun. We had high hopes for this stay, and it exceeded every expectation. Moreover, my daughter and I are gluten intolerant, and never before have we experienced such seamless gluten-free accommodations. From breakfast to dinner, we were always provided with gluten-free alternatives. I was immensely impressed, as many five-star establishments in big cities often fail to meet our dietary needs effectively. The lodge itself is extraordinary, but it’s the staff that truly embodies the spirit of hospitality. We are already hoping to return next year for another magical experience. Thank you, Kariega Main Lodge, for making our stay unforgettable!

We have been on safaris before in Kichaka lodge but this family friendly safari lodge is excellent. It is value for money, staff are very helpful, chalets are clean and provide stunning panoramic views. However a safari is all about your guide and the animals. Kariega delivered on both fronts. Our guide Monde made this family trip. He was courteous, polite, professional, knowledgeable on all the flora and fauna we encountered. He was an excellent driver and I, my wife, and 2 children always felt safe, and were made to feel special.

We just finished our 3 day visit to Kariega game reserve and I have to say it was excellent. Our guide Mariska was fantastic ... so knowledgeable and capable and incredibly obliging. She made a big difference to our experience and Kariega are lucky to have her. Overall the food, chalets, staff and ALL the guides and all the different things that they laid on for us were top notch. Thanks guys Alan & Siobhan

What a fantastic experience for the whole family. 13 of us aged from 14 months to 68 years and it was an epic trip. We had two 4 bedroom lodges which were spotless and very comfortable. One lodge had its own plunge pool. The food in the main lodge was very good both at breakfast/brunch and dinner. One slight negative for us was the barbecue night. We actually felt the food on this night was not great which was disappointing as we had all been looking forward to it. The babysitter was superb and we felt completely comfortable leaving the youngest with her. She was also extremely flexible re timing to allow for dinner etc Finally our safaris were superb. Huge shout out to Margot & Dume(?). You guys made the whole experience memorable for young and old alike. Happy to recommend Kariega for a family safari. We have been home for a month now but the memories for the grandchildren will last a lifetime. Many thanks to everyone at Kariega

We have just finished our first family safari in Kariega - we are a family of 6 ranging in age from 10 to 45 yrs - upon arrival we received a lovely warm welcome at the reception and we were then taken to our lodge (no 24) … the lodge was just gorgeous accommodation for our safari .. very spacious, comfortable & immaculately clean. This was a 4 bed lodge with a lovely living space & 3 bathrooms. We had a lovely balcony & private pool too. It was ideal accommodation for our stay. We stayed for 2 nights and had 4 game drives which were between 3 & 4 hours long. The reserve is simply stunning & it has plenty of wonderful wildlife including the big 5 and much more. Our guide was incredible, Dumisani made our first safari an epic one ! He went to great lengths to ensure we saw all the wildlife. Dumisani was a gentleman, so knowledgeable, safe and fun. We were so lucky to have him as our guide. The safari jeep was a really cool and comfortable way of seeing around the reserve - with everything u need on board such as rain coats, blankets, and even a little picnic/ drinks to have while out on the drive. All the staff were helpful and friendly. We highly recommend Kariega for a wonderful safari experience - we had a really magical time and were so sorry to have to leave.

We’ve had the most magical trip of a lifetime at The Kariega Game Reserve. Mariska, our ranger, was so knowledgable and personable which just made our experience so memorable. The accommodation was wonderful, with a balcony looking out over the reserve. The food was plentiful and delicious. I even enjoyed the early starts!! Thanks so much to Mariska and the whole team for making our dream holiday a reality :-)

We couldn’t say enough good things about our stay at Kariega. We spent three nights at the Main Lodge as a family with two children and this gave us enough time to see plenty of animals and take a river cruise one morning (we even swam in the river!). Everything was top notch, from the food to the service. We really appreciated the friendliness and deep knowledge of our ranger, Kathleen, who made the drives unforgettable even despite some rainy weather. Our chalet was spacious and confortable with a lush, expansive view.

It started at the gate, just 500m away from it 6 girafes stood on the street. Then a warmly wellcome, kindly explaining the how it goes, wonderful accomodation with so colourful interior. Unbelievable good food, all the staff always friendly. Funny monkeys on the roof. The boat tour along the river was fun to do, the game drives fantastic. We saw all the animals we wished, the many boc... zebras, hippo, funny girafes hiding in the forest, elefants soooo close, the lion eating a baby warthog, lions sleeping... It was much more than we ever expected in everything. It is a dream to stay in this place. The silence in the night safaris, amazing, and then standing opposite to 30 buffalos, hearing no noise, nothing. But keeping your breath ;-)

An all-round excellent experience. The setting was magnificent, the wildlife breathtaking, the guide extremely well-informed, welcoming and helpful. We saw all the animals we had hoped to and more and it was great watching them going about their lives in their natural setting. And the food was delicious. Thoroughly recommended.
