The Lorna Doone Hotel

A perfect stay in a lovely hotel. The staff were wonderfully friendly and welcoming. They are refreshingly pet friendly, so our doggy felt as welcome as we did. Our room was lovely and clean well and equipped. The evening meal was really very good indeed (lamb three ways and beef short rib) and the service was outstanding. We will certainly stay again.

Warm welcome and good vegetarian/vegan food in the evening, tasty breakfast options too. A lovely stop on the South West Coastal Path. Bedrooms comfy if a little faded, very nice public areas and a good value walkers packed lunch. Lots of nice homely touches.

Stayed for 1 night with some friends whilst walking the pilgrims church walk. The breakfast at the lorna doone hotel was one of the best I have ever had. Quality ingredients cooked to a very high standard. It was excelent and kept us going for most of the day!

Another enjoyable evening meal at the Lorna Doone restaurant. I now always make sure to pre-book to avoid disappointment; it's easy enough to do. Staff are always welcoming and helpful and the little dining room is very cosy. This time I had a glass of delicious Merlot with the Cajun chicken, which was tasty and just at the perfect side of spicy for me. Previously I enjoyed the Lamb Three Ways and the slow cooked beef ribs. I didn't intend to have pudding, but opted again for the rhubarb & ginger affair... My companions also love the Lamb, but this time had the Saltimbocca, which they really enjoyed.

Not stayed at the hotel but eaten in the restaurant. Great, local food . Best food in Porlock and no more expensive than the pubs, but twice the quality. Nicely refurbished so feels like a proper restaurant. Attentive waitress.

A weekend staying in Porlock with our dog Mick, I came across this dog friendly hotel on the high street. Easy to find, good parking and a pub next door ! Upon arrival we were welcomed with a warm greeting from the owner. After booking in we climbed up an old creaky staircase. Our room, a twin, was cosy And comfortable. Our dog immediately found a comfy spot on his blanket on the floor. After a bit of shut eye we headed down to reception to hopefully have a dinner in the dining room. But to our disappointment it was fully booked. But we headed to the pub next door, and had a lovely meal. Next morning we we’re up and ready for breakfast, a cracking choice on the menu, and even a sausage for our dog ! A cracking hotel which we will visit again.
