Armazéns Cogumbreiro

Having stayed in a villa and then a small room near Furnas before, this was quite the change - the room was almost as big as the villa we stayed in. A warehouse conversation, there is also a high ceiling. We liked the modern and crisp decor in the room. Location-wise, this place is a few minutes walk away from the main square and the main street, so very accessible. There was also a budget supermarket down the street although the selection there was rather basic. One thing is that the street is rather narrow so anyone getting a taxi to the airport will need to factor that in (the staff were not too helpful in terms when asked, we managed to book ourselves). They have individual wifi networks per room which is a great idea, but we found our network very intermittent, kicked off many times during our stay. The door on our room also acted up several times during our stay, taking a while to lock after we left the room - just be aware.

This hotel was beautiful. The building is well-taken care of. The ceilings are high and the room was large. The bathroom was big. Always hot water available. The cafe downstairs was very nice and a great way to start each day. Despite no physical reception, staff were very responsive by WhatsApp. They were very helpful and friendly. Location is central and close to many great restaurants. Like other reviews mention, there is a nightclub nearby but we did not find the noise too disruptive, coming from living in downtown areas back home. Definitely worth the price. Would stay again.

Had an excellent two night stay here recently in a converted historical commercial building. Spacious room and high ceiling, huge comfortable bed, well-lit (huge windows) with kitchen facilities. Bathroom door was a bit strange - very heavy and did not fully close, but not an issue. Main (street level) entry door was quite stiff and needed a violent push to open. Staff of the cafe managed by the hotel seemed a bit overwhelmed during a busy morning but the food service was fast, and quality was okay. Unfortunately there was no in-person greeting (very tight reception area!) but no issues with gaining entry, hotel manager was friendly. Bit on the pricey side for Ponta Delgada but I would stay here again.

Beautiful and spacious room highlighting the classic architecture with modern finishes. Very nice innkeepers who allowed us to check in early after an overnight flight. Great location downtown but away from the busy waterfront. Unfortunately, however, there was a private nightclub open late night just around the corner with very loud patrons. I realize this is out of their control but did make the experience less enjoyable.

We dropped in to the cafe of Armazens Comumbreiro during our stay in Ponta Delgada. The menu was always current with some additional specials being offered. The fresh cakes were tasty and excellent. But also the more salty dishes were freshly cooked and served. The freshly prepared pineapple juice was marvellous. But it was also the calmness of the space, which felt like stepping into a different world when entering the place.

We loved it! Benedict eggs with salmon, cheesecake and coffee are totally worth it. Interior is lovely - a lot of white and light. Reminds us the best places back home. And Hugo was kind, helpful. Thank you!
