My husband and I have just returned from a 3 week stay at the Monte Mar Palace Hotel staying on a SAGA all inclusive package. We found it a haven of peace, tranquillity and rejuvenation. The staff were delightful, the scenery from the cliff top position was stunning, the food good, especially the waiter served lunches, and the sports facilities enough for our needs. We were also blessed with good weather and good company throughout our stay. However, the remoteness that appealed to us might not suit everyone. Walks within the village are hilly and local buses few and far between. But for people of any age or level of fitness there is a satifaction in sampling the hospitality of local cafes and bars, talking to local people, seeing the wild flowers and tropical plants along the mountain paths and experiecing the magnificent views during trips on local buses. We also loved the sunsets over the sea and the constant sound of the breaking waves. As Sue says there is a need to research the location before you come and see if it suits you and if it does bring maps and guide books with you as they are not easy to obtain locally. Thank you Sue for your kind words and good company. We were sorry not to have a chance to say goodbye. Perhaps it should be 'au revoir' as we definitely hope to return next year.
