Would score 3.5 if I could. Hotel is in an incredible location, just a short walk from the main square and plenty of food, drink and shopping options. Easy to find and staff were friendly, even willing to provide milk for tea and coffee in our room. Hotel seems to be set across a string of different buildings, we were in the front building on the street which provided a nice view and it was peaceful at night due to restricted traffic. However, the room felt tired and in need of some work, carpets look old and worn, and we didn't have aircon (it was 32 degrees on the day we stayed). Given the condition of the room, the hotel felt a bit over-priced. Breakfast was excellent and the garden is a lovely spot. Enjoyed our night in Poitiers but not sure I would return to this hotel.

Great hotel in the perfect location. Lovely friendly welcome, professional service and good communication before arrival. In a perfect location right in the city centre close to all the restaurants and shops. Inter connecting rooms for the children an added bonus! Pre booked parking as well. A perfect stopover hotel for us. Many thanks.

When arriving at this hotel we were met by a young lady who happened to be outside and was taking arrival names etc. She was efficient, clear and showed us our parking space. She did speak reasonable english. When booking in at reception they were friendly and again efficient. Located within the town it was easy to move around throughout the day. Room was functional and clean. Breakfast was good and reasonable choices. overall, we enjoyed our stay.

I had chosen this hotel due to price and location and was not disappointed. I'd been in touch with the hotel with a few questions before arriving and they were always quick and helpful with their replies - it included having a taxi waiting for me at the airport to take me to the hotel (as I'd read elsewhere it could be tricky to get taxis/bus form the airport). The level of service didn't stop there with the reception staff always on hand to help and answer any queries throughout my 3 night stay. My room overlooked the rear garden which was nice and quiet. The room was clean, comfortable and functional (not the height of luxury and had a weird little step up into the bathroom which could be an issue for some - but overall more than acceptable. Breakfast was nice with fresh, local, produce which was great to know but I did think it was a little overpriced for what was on offer - still delicious though and no real complaints. Before arrival I had advised them that I would be arriving in Poitiers at 10am but knew check in wasn't until 3pm so had asked if I could leave my cabin luggage with them while I explored the town before checking in, which they were fine with (I did the same when checking out at 11am then returning at 6pm for my bag before heading to the airport). I was thrilled to find that they had my room ready for me at 10am when I arrived (had not expected that at all) and it was great to have that extra flexibility/access to the room. I may well have just been lucky (so don't expect this to be the case for everyone) but it was typical of the service levels provided by the team. As mentioned, the location is great - close to plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars, and never had a problem finding my way around the town or back to the hotel.

I absolutely loved this hotel. Where to start? The staff is caring and professional and will go to great lengths to provide good service. The entire house is impeccably clean and well organized - even the smallest rooms (I may have had one) are welcoming, tidy, and functional. WiFi is strong. Breakfast is off the charts wonderful (special marks to pastries from Emile Boulangerie - luscious). Local products featured throughout. Just so far from the routine predictable chain hotel experience. A true small European family-run inn. And again, the people, just can’t say enough.

We were traveling all day and ended up in Poitiers, we hadn’t made a reservation we were tired after driving all day, we were concerned that we wouldn’t find a hotel with private parking as we had been warned that it was difficult to find spaces, we drove through saw the hotel stopped and asked if they had space, what a pleasant surprise this place was, private parking for a very reasonable price and honestly trying to find parking would have been stressful and we probably would have just continued to drive through, what made the stay enjoyable was the incredibly friendly staff we were shown the room first as we are a family of 4 we opted for the family room, nothing fancy but everything clean and tidy, the beds were comfortable and all basic needs were met, we stayed for pre drinks before heading out for dinner, both our children who are musicians found the piano ! I was so concerned that we would disrupt the quite vibe but they totally embraced a impromptu in house gig with a few of the guests coming in to have a listen, there is also the benefit of a little garden which we made use of for a couple of hours. But what really stood out was the breakfast, we have traveled all over France and I’m yet to find such a passionate madame as here,the breads were all hand made and the brioche madam made was delicious, all the jams seem to be either homemade or locally produced. If I had to find anything to criticize it would be the minimum toiletries, but I can get over that !

The Hotel de L’Europe gave us everything we were after to break our drive down to the Dordogne: - on site parking (pay extra) - a big, comfortable bed - a big enough bedroom to set up our son’s cot (we chose to bring our own! - a little garden for our toddler to run around - tasty breakfast buffet - close proximity to lots of restaurants and the main sights of Poitiers - helpful staff We brought our own shampoo and body wash. Hotel toiletries always a lottery!

Although the room is very small, it is very clean, reception accommodated our request for garden view and all personnel have been quite helpful. No elevator to the 2nd floor in the garden view building. Low price but pretty bare bones. We were charged $10 more for A/C but since it has turned cold, we have been told that will be reversed. Plentiful restaurants nearby and convenient to pedestrian area as well as the train station.
