Beausejour Guest House

We visited Beausejour Guest House, first time in 2019 as a couple and stayed in the Blue Mountain lodge. Ever since, we cannot let one year pass without going back. The 5th time this year 2024, with our daughter (stay in the Arabica lodge) and we are still amazed of the breathtaking views with the mountain on the left and the blue Caribbean Sea on the right. The sky full of stars in the evening, the SPA to relax after a hike on la Soufrière, the comfortable bed and the fresh air and humming birds in the morning. The location on top of a hill, on the west side of Basse Terre island, offers obvious benefits like reasonable temperatures for the night time (sleep without air conditioning) , not bothered much by mosquitoes, 20 mins from the beautiful tropical sandy beaches from the north of the island, 10minutes from the “route de la Traversée” the most beautiful road in the world, beautiful waterfalls nearby, Malendure reserve Cousteau, and many other sites to discover. As for the hosts, Laurence and David are very discreet and helpful in the same time, serving delicious food for the arrival and optionally for the other days. What else to say? Since 2019 we have been searching for a better destination every year but couldn’t find any. Would we recommend the destination and Beausejour Guesthouse? Yes, only to good friends 😀.

My French isn’t good enough, so I’ll try this in English. We stayed in the Blue Mountain lodge for 2 weeks over the holidays. This was our 3rd time here (we stayed a week the first time, 11 days the second, now 2 weeks so I’m quite certain the 4th time we’ll be there a month… :-) ) The lodge is situated on a hill, you’re hidden from view in a lush green garden and you have a glorious view of nature surrounding you, and of course, the blue water of the ocean. At night there’s the chirping of little frogs, and in the morning you get visits from the little colibri birds. The bed is comfy, the bathroom is roomy and has perfect water pressure (and plenty of hot water if you want it) and we loved spending time in the rocking chair to watch the sunrise, or on the couch in the evening, relaxing and having a ti punch with some crisps. We never used the airconditioning and only used the fan for 15 minutes before going to bed. We had 30 degrees Celsius every day, but didn’t need the airco. The jacuzzi was a great treat after climbing the volcano and hiking to the Carbet waterfall, but for us not a must. The kitchen is stocked with all you need, and this time there was even an oven, next to the microwave. Easy to reheat accras and news..! We ordered breakfast and switched sweet and salty every other day. Laurence made these picture perfect, with a lovely fruit display that changed every single day for 2 weeks. There was yoghurt, local jam, the fruit, baguette and a sweet viennoiserie, choice of tea, coffee or chocolate, fresh orange juice and in case of the salty the viennoiserie was exchanged for your choice of eggs and some pieces of French cheese. You won’t get hungry! Her homemade brioche was excellent and we got pancakes on New Year’s day: how lucky can you be? As for the location, Beauséjour Guesthouse sits in between the Malendure beach at a 15min drive where you can go snorkeling (we were lucky with the weather, went 5 days and saw multiple turtles every single time), and Deshaies at 20 mins with its picture perfect beaches of Grand Anse and Anse des perles a bit further away. It’s unfortunate I can’t add little videos, as I mostly filmed the lodge. Check out the Beauséjour website though, it’s exactly the way it seems. Top tip though: don’t get the cheapest rental car, Guadeloupe is not the easiest to drive in (especially at night), it goes up and down and the roads make the craziest turns, so get a car with a bit more power.

On a passé un merveilleux moment dans le lodge Tarrazu. L’endroit est en pleine nature avec vue mer, au calme, mais reste proche de tout ce qu’il faut. Il est idéalement situé pour visiter Basse Terre. Le lodge est très bien équipé (jacuzzi privatif haut de gamme, lave-linge, étendoir, moustiquaire, machines à café, etc.), on s’y sent chez soit et on a même plus envie de partir ! Les propriétaires sont très accueillants. C’était vraiment ressourçant, on recommande à 100 % !

Nous avons passé deux semaines magnifiques dans ce logement ! Une vue paradisiaque sur les montagnes et la mer. Nous avons pu profiter de magnifiques couchers de soleil et d’arc en ciel presque quotidiennement ; et que dire du jacuzzi, un petit bonheur ! Le logement est parfaitement équipé et très propre. Les propriétaires sont aux petits soins, très réactifs et font tout pour que l’on passe le meilleur des séjours (dîner du soir, pain, confiture et p’tit punch offerts à notre arrivée). Un grand grand merci à tous les deux !!! Nous recommandons à 100% les logements chez Beausejour Guest House et serons plus que ravis d’y séjourner de nouveau ! PS : une voiture type SUV (Dacia Duster, Renault Captur) est plus que recommandée pour arriver jusqu’à destination.

Cet endroit est magnifique. Accueil de Laurence au top. Repas très bons. Je recommande vivement. Merci pour votre accueil et vos lodges très bien décorés et cette vue imprenable. La propreté ainsi que l'aménagement des lodges rien à redire.

Superbe séjour. Accueil et lieu de grande qualité. Vue imprenable. Habitation très confortable et décor raffiné; de quoi rendre le séjour inoubliable. Un endroit tout simplement magique. Merci Laurence pour votre accueil chaleureux et votre gentillesse, nous reviendrons sûrement.
