Hôtel Tiéti

L'Hotel Tieti is an absolute gem of a place hidden 300kms north of Noumea on the West Coast of New Caledonia. Built in the mid 1980's, it is looking a little bit aged in some places but apart from that this hotel is superb. It is about a 4 hour drive north from Noumea and the roads are of a reasonable standard all the way. We stayed in a beachside bungalow and the staff and management (especially the Manager Yves) fell over themselves to make us feel welcome, safe and looked after. We were literally 15 metres from the white sand beach and the warm tropical waters. This hotel is very affordable and certainly popular with many folks, especially on long weekends. The accommodation is clean, well maintained and comfortable and everything is provided. Cooking facilities in the rooms are limited as the hotel restaurant is so well patronised, accessible and provides everything you could need. We did make our own breakfast, but other than that we generally dined at the hotel restaurant where the food is superb, plentiful and affordable. There is a fantastic pool by the restaurant and parking is in front of the reception with access to the bungalows by a system of boardwalks. This hotel is very well priced and affordable, by both New Caledonia standards and internationally. It is very near to a township called Poindomie which has several smaller supermarkets, ATMs and a pharmacy so everything you may need is very close. There is also a well regarded Dive business nearby. This hotel is a good base to use to explore further North (but the roads do get a bit rocky up there), as well as simply relax on the sand or in the water (but stay about waist deep in the sea). We highly recommend L'Hotel Tieti for an amazing New Caledonia get away.

We stayed at 8 different hotels & resorts in Nouvelle Caledonie. My wife liked this one best. Beautiful location on the beach. Nice pool ara. Relaxing. Good for couples. Buffet was OK but Not great - salads and deserts were highlights Worth checking in to check it out

We recently spent two very comfortable nights. With hindsight we should have booked a beachside rather than garden villa but the restaurant and bar were very comfortable places to spend time. Unfortunately, water activities were on hold during our time in Poindimié due to sightings of tiger sharks. While on the East Coast, this place is close enough to serve as a weekend getaway for people from Noumea, so the Saturday night was busy! A definite highlight of the stay was the food – local fish on Friday from the à la carte menu and an impressive seafood buffet on Saturday night which is well worth booking into the resort for. A relaxing and worthwhile stay.

Im still sitting in the outside bar area when writing this review. Cant say anything bad about the hotel, and the allways smyling people who work here. I had a great time in this hotel. I was at a beach front bungalow. Just loved it..very traditional deco and nice view outside to the lush garden and ocean.i was expecting exactly what was offered, given at the hotel. The breakfast, lunch/brunch and the dine all great and tasty and served by the smiling local people...i came here alone from 17 000 kmts and when i felt a bit alone a smile from them just turned my day around :) I didnt really leave the hotel but theese 3 days was just planned around absolut relaxation. Very well spent time.. the hotel manager/owner? Also very kind and speaks perfect English for thoose who just speak a little bit of French..this wasnt a problem at all..everybody understood my talking.. Cant reccomend enough this place. Wonderful! Hope to come back one day

This hotel is nicely laid out and is in a beautiful spot next to a charming beach. We had a standard room (not beach bungalow) and we were very happy with it .. not far from anything and with a nice balcony. The « let-down » was the food at dinner. Both the setting and staff were pleasant, but our two entrees (shrimps & sweet meats, both deep fried) had not been freshly cooked, were just reheated, and were really overcooked. The mains (tuna and fish of the day) were quite nice but nothing special. The wine was ordinary for the cost. It was actually a pretty expensive meal but without the quality you would expect for the price. Drinks from the bar were good, but also expensive. We skipped breakfast because of the dinner experience .. breakfast also looked ordinary for the cost. However, it’s the only restaurant and bar for hundreds of km, so….. The hotel is nice .. just be wary of spending up big on the food and drinks.

We stayed 3 nights in a beachside bungalow. It was absolutely gorgeous, very spacious and had a huge bathroom. Very tastefully and well thought out in its design. We enjoyed the little deck & lounge chairs facing onto beach. The restaurant was great and breakfast very good too. We enjoyed snorkelling right out the front of the hotel. We also enjoyed an afternoon snorkelling trip to Ilot Tibarama (took our own snorkel gear & lunch). We travelled there by taxi boat. Another day we spent driving up to Hienghene - very worthwhile….fantastic scenery and rock formations.
