We are just back from the best Sunday Lunch we have had out. From the friendly staff to our clear plates it was superb. Succulent meat and the tastiest of vegetables. The perfect lunch date with family. Will most certainly be coming again. Thankyou so much once again.

Ate at The George for Sunday lunch. Staff Celine & Alicia were attentive, helpful, and friendly with the timing of service perfect, not too rushed and not having to wait too long between courses. Venue was warm and friendly with log burner and gentle xmas music in the background. Shout out to chefs for great roast beef (that just melted in the mouth) and an excellent sticky toffee pudding.

Where to begin? September for a combined birthday celebration. Chose The George as two of our party of 12 had specific dietary needs and tapas were ideal for their diets. Sat down with drinks and then informed they weren't able to cook any food due to an issue in the kitchen. Duly sent away with a promise to 'come back and let us make it up to you', 'let us show you what we can do'. So there and then we re-booked, same party, for the next birthday celebration in October. Fast forward to October. During the day we phoned to check they had the tapas options as this was an important factor for us. Tom, deputy manager advised all food options were available. We'd be in an upstairs function room as there was a private function in the main bar. As the only diners booked in for the evening, full menu was available as they wouldn't be serving anyone else. After being seated we were told that half of the tapas were unavailable along with some of mains. Really, we rang a few hours earlier and was told everything we wanted was available. Orders were placed immediately as chef wanted to get our food out before the private function. When our drinks arrived we were told another main course was unavailable. We asked to speak to Tom and remind him of the phone call we had earlier in the day. Tom's response: 'I work 15 hour shifts and can't really remember'. So here's our real gripe. The salmon fish cake tapas, ordered by members with medical dietary needs, was frozen in the middle. So much for chef wanting time to 'cook' our food before the main function. So we complain and not surprisingly (due to being messed around multiple times), we go to the bar and make a scene. And that's when we're told to leave. As mentioned before, two of our party are clinically extremely vulnerable (chemo, say no more). It's not acceptable for any person to be served frozen food but for some people this can have extremely serious consequences. It's also worth noting one person is 86, another 80, several younger members and a baby. Not exactly rebels just really annoyed people who've been messed around umpteen times. It's not complaining from customers the George needs to worry about, it's the Environmental Health officer. Oh, and don't believe a word of the platitudes that you're told. They're empty words. Fortunately we were able to celebrate our birthdays in another nearby pub. Apparently they've had to accommodate several groups like us, all leaving the George at short notice having been let down. Owner: you need to get a real handle on the place otherwise you won't last.

Visited for a few drinks and an evening meal. We found the establishment very clean and tidy, the recent refurbishment has improved the facilities. The staff were very professional and friendly and all in all we had an enjoyable experience. The choice of food was very good and everything we had was very good. Would recommend and will use again.
