Pure Astor House

This property was originally intended as student lets so the standard rooms are minimum size as per student accommodation regulations with a layout specifically designed for this purpose. With this said, the location is very good within walking distance of Plymouth Hoe, the Barbican and the Royal Parade. The room was clean with towels and an electric fan provided. No water, kettle or tea/coffee. The reception staff were young people who did their best to be helpful. The price was also reasonable compared to other UK accommodation. Entrance security was prison like with an electronic fob needed for the entrance gate, the main entrance door, the room area door and the room itself. Now for some downsides, two in particular, … the shower cubicle is exceptionally small so movement is restricted … and the bed is a thin mattress on a hardboard surface with lightweight pillows which made for an uncomfortable sleeping experience - my back hurt in the morning. Overall, this hotel is fairly cheap so if you are on a budget worth considering … but if you prefer more comfort I would suggest you book elsewhere.
