Hôtel Manoir de Rigourdaine

Manoir de Rigourdaine is a lovely and charming country hotel with an amazingly kind, friendly and helpful owner. It makes all the difference. This hotel offers large rooms with views, very comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast full of freshly made local specialties sourced from nearby farms. It has plenty of parking. The hotel grounds are beautiful, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the architecture is very authentic. It is very well located as a base to discover the Cotes D'Armor corner of Brittany, close to St Malo, Dinan, Dinard, etc... However, what really sets it apart is the owner, because true helpfulness and advice that comes from genuine knowledge of the region is hard to find even in expensive 5-star hotels. If you want to discover the area, then Ghyslain will give you all the advice that you need including hidden gems such as suggesting to visit the nearby village of St Suliac, or hike suggestions, restaurants, activities, etc... He goes out of his way to accommodate guests even when we had non standard requests. This is true hospitality that is so rare to find nowadays. Thank you Ghyslain and all the Manoir staff for making our stay unforgettable! We hope to return one day.

I want to also second the reviews already on this site. This is a beautiful property conveniently located to visit Dinan, St. Malo, and the Emerald Coast. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful, making dinner suggestions and reservations for us. The breakfast was very good. Our room was on the ground floor and had a little patio, where we could sit and enjoy the view and sunset. We also enjoyed having drinks and sitting in the outdoor area of the hotel and once again looking at the view and socializing. We took day trips to Dinan, which is an interesting medieval city to visit. Another day we drove to Cap Frehel, stopping at Pointe de Chevet and Fort LaLotte to take walks. The Emerald Coast is very beautiful! I definitely recommend a stay here as a base for sight-seeing in the area.

I agree with the previous reviews of this lovely property. The staff is so kind and helpful. The only drawback is the very weak and often non-existent wifi. My husband was able to work around this with his phone so it didn't impact us too much. And it gave me a wonderful reason to just curl up with a book each evening after touring around. It was a perfect location to base for visits to Dinan, St. Malo and the Emerald Coast. The staff's recommendations for dinners were very good and breakfasts were extensive and delicious.

We loved our four night stay at this place! One needs a car to access, but we found it a perfect base from which to explore Dinan, St.Malo and Mont St Michel. This is a country retreat, with beautiful surroundings, lovely accommodations, and friendly and helpful staff. One note: it has changed ownership in the past couple of years (I found it in the Rick Steves guidebook where the previous owner was referred to in glowing terms). We found the current owners to be entirely charming, friendly, relaxed and helpful so it would appear that the transition to new ownership has been smooth. A shout out to the young man who is the nephew of the owners- he is a gem and was so friendly to us and our attempts to speak French (he liked to practice his English, we liked to practice our French!). Our “room” was actually a suite complete with living room and rear patio, which looked out on the nearby green fields with a glimpse in the distance of the Rance River (this is considered to be in the Rance River Valley, and it is beautiful country). Very comfortable and private, We enjoyed charcuterie platters on two evenings in the main building where we were the only guests partaking- perfect after a full day of sightseeing when we didn’t want to drive the 15 or so minutes into Dinan. There is a full bar where you can order a glass or bottle of wine or whatever you might prefer. Breakfasts were served in a lovely large dining room, and included excellent pastries and bread as well as yogurts, fruit, cereal and the like. We thoroughly enjoyed it all. If I lived in France I would make this a regular retreat as it was incredibly relaxing, beautiful and pleasant. Sadly, I do not live in France-!- but would return here in a heartbeat if I were in this beautiful part of Brittany. Highly recommend.

Je recommande cet établissement pour la qualite du site et le charme du Manoir. Vue imprenable sur La Rance, au calme. Des chambres sublimes avec un petit dej a couper le souffle ! Accueil très chaleureux Merci, c’est certain, nous reviendrons ! Laurent
