Alianthos Beach Hotel

I've just returned from a wonderful stay at the Alianthos Beach Hotel/Anthos Apartments. I have visited this family run hotel a number of times over the past 15 years and it never disappoints. With recent renovations including the seaside restaurant right by the wonderful Plakias beach it just gets even better. The wonderful breakfast they serve in the morning really sets you up for a day exploring this lovely part of Crete. In the coming days the hotel taverna right on the beach will also be open as the weather hots up. The rooms in both the hotel and the apartments (I've stayed in both) are well equipped and spotlessly clean and are serviced daily. The public areas and facilities including the pool are very comfortable and accommodating. The real draw for me however is the wonderful hospitality from the family owners and all the staff you feel as soon as you arrive. They also arranged my airport transfers for me which took away any stress getting from Chania Airport to this little gem of a place on Crete's beautiful southern coast. They really do try to make you feel at home. Plakias is not a party resort, but there are plenty of bars and tavernas all along the lovely promenade, providing a great evening out. During the day there's the great stretch of beach, plus plenty of other nearby beaches, traditional villages, mountains and gorges to explore. Car rental might be advantageous, there's even horse riding, but if you prefer to walk (like me) or make use of the public transport including buses and taxis its easy and safe to navigate. I would recommend Plakias and the Alianthos Beach Hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming, peaceful and relaxing break. I for one am already planning my next visit.

We love this family run hotel, always a great welcome. They arrange our airport pickup and journey back. Always happy to help.the views of the beach, marina and mountains is wonderful and sitting under the trees in the evening with pretty lights above is mesmerising.

Had to pay for the all too common chairs and umbrella hire on the beach so thought may as well order some drinks, had to go to the hotel to pay upfront, then they delivered drinks to the beach. Was only there for an hour. Would be good if chairs were complimentary with min drinks or food order.

We went after we left from a place that we had a very bad experience and we found immediately room although the high season had started. Small but clean rooms, nice food, nice view, it didn’t have insects and it was very quiet and relaxing place with a good staff. I hoped we had come from the start of our vacation here.

We didn't stay overnight here, but truly enjoyed great meals and excellent service at the restaurant. The setting is lovely, with tables by the sea under a natural arbor provided by the trees. The waiters were friendly and professional. We tried pasta, seafood and meat dishes, and thought they were all delicious.
