Hekaya Zanzibar

Here is the English translation: ⸻ It was the holiday of a lifetime, all thanks to the fact that we could spend it at Hekaya. Everything was amazing! The hotel was beautiful and very well-maintained! The entire staff was lovely, extremely helpful and attentive. The view from the window — a dream come true! The beach was like something out of a fairy tale! And the food — incredible! Our taste buds were in heaven! Thank you for everything! We’ll be reminiscing about our stay in this wonderful place for a long time!

We stayed at Hekaya for a couple of days with our two small children. It ended up being an ideal location in more ways than one. The room was comfortable and spacious. It led directly to the beach. Because of the tides, we felt quite safe letting the kids play around the sandbank without having to worry about big waves etc. The tide pools were amazing to walk through. The pool itself is on the small side but worked well. Small touches like a beach bag and bowl of water outside the room to clean your feet were very thoughtful. The breakfast is served directly to your table and comes out in courses. That wasn't ideal for the kids and so we requested them to serve the toast and eggs at the beginning and they were very nice about it. There's a very nice place to eat if you face the ocean and then walk to the left, from the hotel (it's in a repurposed van, I think it was called Pantbella). One day we took a boat out to the mangroves up the coast early morning- being able to walk around the mangroves was incredible. All in all it was our favorite stay in Zanzibar !

We spent 3 nights at Hekaya Zanzibar, including the New Year's Eve. We had a wonderful experience - the facilities were great, location perfect and everyone in the team did an outstanding job to keep us comfortable throughout our stay. A special thanks to Jackline and Godfrey for their fantastic responsiveness, and for going above and beyond to make us have a special time in the island!

Very nice place to spend your holidays. It is well maintained, clean, has amaizing views, nice pool. The staff is very friendly. The food was good, very big portions. The hotel has good value for money. We loved the beach - it was clean, you can swim during high and low tides. Perfect place if you don’t want to be in the middle of nowhere but also want quiet holidays. No noisy bars, etc. Also, it felt safe.

Hekaya is a beautiful small and quiet hotel with wonderful staff. If you are looking for a couple of days of total relaxation, this is the place for you. - The beach is very beautiful and still rather quiet with few options for food and drinks (can recommend Pandu Ngozi) - There is a sandbank right in front of the hotel, which allows you to swim also during low tide after a short walk on beautiful white sand - The staff (especially John, Celina, Erick and Elena) is super friendly and does their best to help you with any requests and wishes - Range of activities offered by the hotel is great and at fair prices, even compared to the offers that you get at the beach. Elena will help you arrange any activities that are not part of their constant offering - Rooms are very clean and offer beautiful views on the ocean and the sunrise (boda boda offers most privacy and best view, as it is on the top floor - the mattress was a little worn out, though) - The whole hotel complex is very nicely laid out and well maintained - The quality of dinner is good but we would have preferred a stronger influence of the local cuisine (even though we were surprised by the good quality of the homemade pasta - 3 courses will cost you USD25 ) - Breakfast was always good and plenty - some more variety in the fruit selection would have made it even better

I think you will like it here. It is small, it is right on the coral beach, it has everything you need, both in the room and in the common areas. The team are super supportive. This place has caracter, unlike the thirteen-to-a-dozen bland resorts with just a little dusting of Zanzi which you can find in the area. Breng watershoes. Don’t step on sea urchins. If you see a blue bottle jellyfish, take evasive action. The cooking is great at Hekaya. Of course, a visit to the nearby Rock Restaurant should not be missed
