Pineville is unique and special because it was formerly known as the Cumberland Ford, which is nestled between the Cumberland Gap National Historic Park located in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. This happens to be where all three states come together, Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. It is also very near to the Cumberland Falls located in the Whitley County and McCreary area of Corbin, Kentucky.
