On my arrival day on the13th, we slept in the car due to the bad condition of the place because lot of renovations were taking place and we had to leave in the morning on the 14th instead of the 15the. So on that regard,I'm requesting for my refund and awaiting for that

Where lack of maintainance and cost cutting are the cause of my downgrade. During our stay the roofrenovation of the Main Hotel and Restaurant comenced. This added to the inconvenience of our stay, staff where trying to assist where possible and made it bearable - poor quality food needs to be adressed urgently as this Hotel will not attract enough tourists to survive

I purposely made a detour to the Royal Hotel in Pilgrim's Rest, hoping for a charming and memorable stay. Unfortunately, my experience was far from idyllic. Arriving around 5 PM, we found the town eerily quiet. As we approached the hotel, we were accosted by a young man outside. To our surprise, we discovered that our booking was actually for the annex, not the main hotel. While the reception staff agreed to accommodate us in the main building, our room was far from satisfactory. The mattress was broken and uncomfortable, resulting in a restless night. Dining alone in the restaurant, we were met with mixed service. While one waiter was rude and unhelpful, the other was kind and attentive. The food was reasonably priced and well-prepared, but the atmosphere was rather lonely. The bar was pleasant, but our enjoyment was short-lived as we encountered a large cockroach upon returning to our room. Overall, the Royal Hotel fell far short of our expectations. The combination of poor service, uncomfortable accommodations, and an unpleasant encounter with pests made our stay disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel to others.

The is no TV In the room and the is no refrigerator in the room,we struggling to sleep early because to much noise from the Bar .but the breakfast was perfect 🥰 .the bed was comfortable, thanks to Mr M

Lovely and quaint accommodation in our family unit at the Royal Hotel Pilgrims Rest. The cottage was spacious and nice and private. The rooms where well appointed and serviced every day. Some maintenance is needed in various parts.

We stayed in this hotel 25 years ago on our way from Jo’burg to the Kruger. Back again on the same journey. Had a beautiful room in the old bank annex. Pilgrims rest had a planned generator outage that evening so we sat by the fire in the old church bar by candlelight then went for dinner in the hotel once it came back on. Then to bed as we had been travelling overnight with little sleep! Breakfast back in the dining room and off. It was exactly as it all was 25 years ago. I don’t know if pple will think that a good or bad thing! But this hotel is charming and the staff lovely. Watch out for the people who try to make you park at the bottom of the town tho - drive up to the hotel!
