Hotel Petersburg, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Had the pleasure of staying at this hotel while in town for the Jefferson cup. Hotel is beautiful, the best part of the stay was the great service from valet, to front desk to even the bartenders all were amazing and so pleasant, always smiles on their faces and so welcoming and kind. Thats a reflection of the general manager Mr. Sullivan who welcomed us and treated us like we were family even went above and beyond to take us to breakfast our first morning there as he knew we were from out of town, kudos to the whole hotel Petersburg staff as they are a model for what a hotel should be. Mr. Tom Sullivan thank you for everything the next hotel I stay at has a big bar to fill because of the bar you have set.

This hotel is extremely well preserved in all of its original detail including original light fixtures and trim details in the common areas. They literally polished the original boiler in the basement for a very cool jazz bar scene. The guestroom bathrooms are well done and the rooms are comfortable with full streaming TV’s. My friends and I are in the historic renovation business and we booked rooms in this hotel just to explore what had been done with this gem of a building and enjoy a fun getaway night. Because the property was a city office building for the last 50 years or so, since it stopped being a hotel, the preservation of original finishes is amazing. It never was stripped out or gutted in its 100+ year history. The Restaurant on the first floor had excellent options. I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp and grits, an apple pie dessert, and an old fashion at the restaurant bar after dinner. Andrea at the front desk was super helpful and she even snuck us to the rooftop bar for a peak of that space which will open this spring when the weather warms. This hotel is totally worth checking out and so much more interesting and cared for than the standard box hotels. A very fun weekend retreat for us in an area full of seemingly undiscovered history.

This place is absolutely horrible. The thermostats are controlled by the front desk and mine kept being reset to 65 degrees but the heat was turned off every time I left. When I checked in it was 57 degrees in the room the highest I could ever get the room temperature was 67. My bathroom had windows that looked right into the shower from the neighboring building with no blinds, they had kind of spray painted the window, but you could see directly into the shower which also had a clear glass door. I had to pack pillows in the window so I could use the shower. A huge spider was apparently living in the bath towels, that was not a fun surprise. I experienced the same misinformation about the restaurant hours that another reviewer complained about. Every time I went to the restaurant, well inside open hours I was told they just closed. But the most frustrating thing about the stay was the parking. I was told I could park and walk a long distance during a snow storm and 20 degree weather or I could valet. The valet lot was directly across the street maybe 20ft but you had to leave your keys, the valets were never around when I needed my car then they tell you to go to their website to request your car. The whole thing is absolutely absurd. Just getting your car back was like trying to leave the hotel California. If not for the nice staff I would have given it zero stars
