Thorpe Lodge Hotel

I stayed here for 6 days, I knew the hotel as I used to walk past it daily when I lived in the area. It has been sold, pics will show this. Bed very comfortable, hard and soft pillows, staff very accommodating, was told it was a non smoking hotel when I checked in. I can only write what I experienced and provide pictures. I left on Friday morning. Room very clean.

This is not a hotel it is a hovel and I pity anyone like me who had to stay there. The owner should be ashamed to call this a hotel and charge guests to stay there. The place is a disgrace and should be closed down. The check in took over half an hour in a reception area containing dirty and stained carpets and furniture. The corridors and stairways to the room stank, unclean, badly maintained and just disgusting. The room was pitiful, disgusting offering no comfort whatsoever. The mattress on the bed was old and past its usefulness, the bed had no duvet or blankets just a thin bed cover, so it was freezing throughout the night. The curtains were pinned to one end of the window which you could not close properly. The bathroom was dreadful, carpeted floor which was dreadfully stained especially around the toilet bowl, brown marks that you can guess where they came from. The shower was not working and I would not have used it as it had not been cleaned for an age. The rate booked said it included breakfast however the restaurant had been closed for months. Security was a joke !!! the front door to the building was unlocked at all times and when I returned at midnight was wide open. This is not a hotel, it should be closed down by the authorities and de-listed by *********** (but they said they won’t) PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I felt very unsafe in this hotel, someone tried to get into my room at one point and there were drunk patrons and dogs running around into the early hours. Had to check into a Premier Inn at 2am. I would not stay here again.
