Perast is gorgeous, only marred by the daily influx of 000s of cruise passengers, some of whom apparently think it’s a “lake-side” resort 🫣 Hoards of cruise passengers swamp the place each day from 10am with their lanyards holding recorded tour guides. Fabulous restaurant terrace with stunning views. Nothing much to do here though. Probably good for 1 or 2 nights maximum. Hotel staff are delightfully obliging, polite and helpful. Our other issues bullet pointed: We stayed in an “apartment with sea view”. This was located in Annex C which we were frequently advised was “150m”from the hotel reception. Actually it was 350m. 64 steep and uneven stairs to reach our room from street level outside the fire station. Thank goodness for Dragon, who accompanied us from reception to the bottom of the stairs in a golf buggy and then kindly carried both our 20kg bags up to our apartment - one in each hand💪🏻 Accomodation Large boiler in very small bathroom that offered only 2 very quick consecutive showers before needing to wait for boiler to heat up again. Extremely slippery floor tiles in shower - very dangerous - mats provided after our request; Shower goes from cold to scorchio with a tiny adjustment of temperature control; No shelf or basket in shower - just use the slippery floor; Corroded taps on basin; Array of very small towels; Very heavy duvets and soft pillows; Open (feature) holes in the ancient walls without insect screens; TV and A/C in Bedroom 2 not working on arrival. A/C fixed on Day 2, TV still not working; No live UK TV - just catchup; Ceiling lamp above main bed not working even after reporting; Very noisy / creaky bed due to no proper base - just covered with 4mm thin hardboard sheets; Complimentary bottle of water for first night only; Room felt damp with tablets / pills soft evenn after being left out for just 1-2hrs; No dressing table; Very basic hairdryer fixed to bathroom wall. Food 350m level walk to hotel restaurant for breakfast; Had to carry out all our drinks & food from the restaurant to the seaside terrace ourselves, if you didn’t want to eat inside. Several trips required; Luke warm coffee from self-service coffee machines; Uninspiring and basic food choices for breakfast. Hot food held in heated cloches so over-cooked / steamed. We didn’t bother for the remainder of our stay; Concentrated O/J - not freshly squeezed; Restaurant menu limited, and repetitive. Only had lunch & dinner (same menu) on our first day. Not many international choices - time for change! We dined extremely well in Dibrota every night thereafter. Would not stay here again. Probably look for somewhere nearer but not in Kotor for the reasons of cruise ship passengers spoiling everyone else's experience.
