«I seldom share my experiences in Chinese hotels. That is a mistake. China’s hotels are among the world’s most comfortable and reasonably priced. I am now in the home of chairman Mao and staying at the very comfortable Jianguo hotel. After arriving in Shaoshan (over 38 years since my last visit), I have been overwhelmed by the friendliness of the local people and the staff at the Jianguo hotel. In what may be called one of the more politically important destinations in China, I have found open arms and smiles. My American friends can learn something from this. I am clearly not a local but, even during this time of geopolitical tension, I am receiving nothing less than genuine friendship, no animosity, and this makes me feel optimistic. I hope that we in the United States can learn from the Chinese people’s example. Thank you, everybody at the Jianguo Hotel. including Liu Zheng who personally took me to Chairman Mao’s residence this morning. He offered to do this while eating dinner in the hotel restaurant last night (please try the 香椿拌豆腐). He introduced me to the park’s director and facilitated everything to make this visit so special. Liu Jingli just treated me to lunch and is driving me to the train station. This kind of service I’ve never received before in my hundred plus countries and I think that it is important that we share these stories with the outside world. This hospitality, too, is an essential part of China. (I would argue it is even more real than the news stories we receive out of Washington DC.) Chairman Mao’s home will forever echo with not just memories of the past but optimism of a more respectful and inclusive future.»

UUsuario invitado去觀瞻毛主席故居住的，老闆娘人非常好，温柔有條理，我們下了高鐵是打車去的，有20元/人的環保車費給了司機，司機忘記給我們老闆娘還會提醒我們找司機要，還會給我們指路線，房間衞生很標準無可挑剔，佈置也漂亮的，推薦去韶山玩的都住她家，她家菜也很好吃，特色菜和家常菜都炒的很香，離景點也都不遠。推薦，強烈推薦。

ZZhensenNuestro viaje coincidió con el cumpleaños del presidente Mao y, en general, quedamos muy satisfechos.
La habitación era de estilo tatami, bastante limpia y muy tranquila por la noche. Está a unos 10 minutos a pie de lugares como la plaza de la estatua de bronce y su antigua residencia.
Moverse por el pueblo de Shaoshan en transporte público es incómodo porque está relativamente apartado, y con las restricciones de tráfico durante los días festivos importantes, suele ser difícil conseguir un taxi. Ir y volver en autobús es bastante complicado. Por suerte, el propietario nos ayudó a reservar el transporte, y los precios eran razonables. Es muy práctico ir a Shaofeng, Dishuidong y a la estación de tren de alta velocidad. Un viaje de ida y vuelta a lugares cercanos como Shaofeng y Dishuidong en un coche de 5 plazas cuesta 30 yuanes, mientras que un viaje a la estación de tren de alta velocidad cuesta 30 yuanes. Los precios suelen ser más altos durante los días festivos, pero sin duda es muy práctico.
Comimos en el restaurante de la casa de huéspedes, en la primera planta, incluyendo desayuno y almuerzo, ya que no hay muchos otros sitios para comer cerca. El desayuno costaba 10 yuanes por persona por fideos de cerdo o de arroz estofados, más 2 yuanes por un huevo. Los platos principales están recién hechos y las verduras las cultiva el propio dueño, así que son muy frescas. La especialidad es el cerdo estofado al estilo Mao (58 yuanes) y el cerdo estofado premium al estilo Mao (108 yuanes). La diferencia es que la versión premium tiene mejor aspecto y usa panceta de cerdo de mayor calidad. Probé ambas, y personalmente, la versión normal me pareció más económica y sabrosa. También se puede comprar té tostado en el propio pueblo; una bolsa de 500 g cuesta 80 yuanes, y está bien. Mis amigos y yo compramos varias bolsas cada uno.
También se puede pedir al dueño que te ayude a comprar las entradas; los locales tienen descuento. La entrada para ”Shaoshan Chong Más Memorable” costaba originalmente 218 yuanes, pero el dueño nos consiguió entradas por 138 yuanes. La entrada para ”Shaofeng” costaba 89 yuanes para dos personas, y el dueño nos consiguió entradas por el mismo precio.
Visitamos la Plaza de la Estatua de Bronce, la Antigua Residencia, el Museo de Historias de Vida, la Sala de Exposiciones Especiales y Shaofeng. También vimos la obra de teatro ”Shaoshan Chong Más Memorable”. La Plaza de la Estatua de Bronce aplica medidas de control de multitudes durante los días festivos importantes. La Antigua Residencia, el Museo de Historias de Vida y la Sala de Exposiciones Especiales requieren reserva, pero se puede entrar haciendo cola y mostrando el DNI sin reserva; al personal no le importa. El viaje en teleférico que sube y baja por la montaña Shaofeng es al aire libre y bastante emocionante; quienes tengan vértigo deben tener cuidado. El espectáculo de canto y danza ”Shaoshan Más Memorable” fue la parte más valiosa del viaje. Incluía el transporte y duró unos 60-70 minutos, muy cautivador. Al principio y al final de la función, los actores vendieron recuerdos y artículos dentro del recinto, todos hechos de cobre, supuestamente diseñados con la participación de Zhang Yimou. La calidad general fue excelente, bastante pesada, con artículos como llaveros, colgantes y pulseras. Los precios oscilaban entre 38 yuanes y varias decenas de yuanes, mucho más caros que productos similares en otros lugares. Las compras incluían una insignia de ”Servir al Pueblo”. Nuestro grupo de cuatro se fue de compras, comprando más de diez artículos y gastando entre 600 y 700 yuanes.
En resumen, este viaje fue genial y espero tener la oportunidad de volver.
Por fin, que el presidente Mao viva para siempre.

KKarenlee kI am a solo female traveler from America. The owner and family took wonderful care of me. As if I were their family and not just a guest. The owner drove me to the Mao scenic area, helped me find the ticket area, and returned later to take me home. Then he later drove me to a restaurant for dinner, where I also met his cute dog Wang Wang, and afterwards took me to the evening musical performance about Mao. Which was great to see even not speaking Chinese. My departure train was late in the afternoon but they allowed me to just rest in the hotel lounge and garden. Gave me tea, fruit, and cake while I waited. Even offered to drive me to the train! So friendly. So kind. And hotel room was VERY comfortable. Stay here! Ps. I recommend using WeChat to communicate with the host if you don’t speak Chinese. Made things so easy.

UUsuario invitadoThe owners of this place are the nicest people ever! Even though we did not ask, they gave us a ride to and from the train station as well as to Chairman Mao's former residence. The location is great, it would not have been a long walk but the ride made our visit even smoother. The hosts gave us Chairman Mao pins for free and made us delicious breakfast for a really cheap price. They truly are such nice people! They don't speak much English but I'm sure you would manage just fine with a translator app. The room was a great fit for us, two couples travelling together, and it had everything we needed. We only stayed for one night since there is not a whole lot to see in this town but we would have loved to stay for longer just because the hosts were so nice. I would definitely recommend this place! 谢谢你们对我们的悉心照顾!
