Hotel Aboukir

Horrible. Terrible place. It CAN'T be advertised as a hotel. It's less than hostel quality. As soon as you arrive you realize it's in a sketchy area, gangs of homeless gathering at the entrance of the place. While inside, you could hear someone coughing their life out, non stop. It was super gross. The stairs were almost breaking with every step. I had to wait for the receptionist to arrive, and he was just yelling at the cleaning lady upstairs to see if the room was ready. The entrance was horrible, no lobby area just a whole on the wall for reception. The "private" room was awful. The "shower" was tiny uncomfortable and not well placed. Amenities? Terrible soap that leaves your hands dried than what they came. No place to set luggage, hard bed, hard pillows. Curtains almost see through. You could hear the noise from the street. No ventilation except opening the window. This place offers less than hostel quality, And they charge close to a 4* hotel in the area. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here, even if you have limited budget, search for another place.

This hotel is well located next to a metro station with 2 lines serving it (about 2 stops from Opera where the airport bus stops and not far from Gare Du Nord either). They have good 24 hour check in which is good and the hotel is also very quiet. The amenities are a little bit limited as this place is based in an old Parisian residential building. The toilets are shared about 6 rooms to 1 toilet; you have a shower and sink in your room. You get a roll of toilet paper in your room which you need to remember to take to the toilet with you as you might not find any toilet paper there. The toilet ran out of soap by the morning; it would be good if this could be checked through the night. The shower in room 15 also seemed to suddenly go scalding hot by itself. It would be good to have a proper shower gel dispenser in the shower rather than just providing two small sachets. You need to be physically able to climb stairs as well as there's no lift. Overall it's a decent place to stay, fine for 1 night but not sure about any longer.

Check-in jad past by an hour but I could still make a reservation and enter the premises out of any barriers! Reception was very kind and of completely great quality, even borrowing me a charger plug for the night as my own was UK. The place is comfortably sizy, room was silent and fresh, besides the beds very cozy and with curtains of one own's for privacy and darkness. Beds are rather wide, even 100cm wide I'd guess, but climbing the upper one please mind the threat of having bed fall upon You if not being senseful with the climbing position! :) Full 5⭐, and much much better than I'd have imagined to find at 01:00 Friday night 31.05.2024 for any the price I'd be anyhow eligible to pay!
