Villa Juana, Danao, Panglao Island Pros – Wonderful large rooms with all needed amenities, felt at home with friendly and helpful staff (including owner Juana), walk out back gate to bangkas for diving, snorkling & island hopping, best prices we could find for quality of rooms, easy 5 minute scooter ride to Alona Beach and main town. Cons – Waterfront with nice view, but not really beachfront as shore is rocky / muddy and only serves as access for boat trips. Need scooter except for a handful of small stores, restaurants & bars within 5-10 minute walking distance. Location – In Danao just west of Alona. 30-40 minute tricycle to Tagbilaran City & Port, 15-20 minute tricycle to airport terminal, 15 minute scooter to Panglao Public Market area, 5 minute scooter (or 20-30 minute walk) to Alona Beach & Town. Rooms – Large clean units with a/c, cable tv (many international channels), fast internet with several routers around grounds, 5 gallon drinking water & dispenser, portable closet, fridge, rice cooker, toaster, hot water pot, sink, dishes / pots / pans / silverware, small dining table. Each unit has outside gas stove for cooking. Relatively large bathrooms with hot water shower. Facility - 4 buildings not including owner / staff residences. 1 = 2 story house (perfect for groups) with common living room & full kitchen area, and 3 large bedrooms (each bedroom has own bathroom & small kitchen / stove on patio); 1 = 4 unit building, 1 = 2-3 unit building with a 2 bedroom shared living room / kitchen unit and 1 separate unit; 1 = nipa hut unit. Common yard area with 2 hammocks near back gate to waterfront. Quiet at night except for occasional dogs barking along waterfront and occasional distant music / karaoke. Services – Scooter rental, staff can help arrange tricycle, boat trips, trips to other Bohol tourist destinations, and similar services. We initially reserved for 3 days to look around for best place to stay, but could not find anything nearly this nice in this price range so we ended up staying here for over 4 months. We hope to return here on our next visit to the Philippines. Locally owned.
