Vivenda Rebelo

I rented a room with a kitchen at Vivenda Rebelo for a month-long research trip to Panaji, and I couldn't have had a better experience. Deric Rebelo (the owner, not sure why Tripadvisor says this homestay is managed by OYO, it's not) was unbelievably welcoming and truly treated me like family during my stay - not only did he check in regularly to make sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable, he often stopped by with delicious home-cooked meals! The room was bright, spacious, and comfortable with a full-size kitchen. Deric even rearranged the furniture for me, so I could set up a desk with a workspace for zoom meetings. The location, in the historic neighborhood of Campal, was perfect for my needs - quiet and residential, but easy walking distance to a grocery store and restaurants. There's also a lovely park nearby for jogging or walking in the morning or evening, and Kala Academy (sadly closed when I was there) is right across the road. I hope I get the chance to visit Panaji again soon - when I do, I'll definitely be staying at Vivenda Rebelo!

If there were to be a defination of a perfect host in the book of genesis, then it's Deric's. The charming guy, with his two kids studying abroad, runs the conglomerate of his villas in goa for guests. It's surrounded by a tropical garden, which imparts a super pleasurable feel. During our stay he kept a keen watch watch on the flight/train arrivals & departures for our smooth arrival and exit. Deric always willing to guide us on touring, gave us genuine tips on food/bars, transportation, took us out for a coffee and also went out of his way to drop us at the stop by his car. His HR are his cute dogs who carry themselves around the property with solemn dignity and an aristocratic air to themselves. The master Deric is way more humble than the two dignitaries and their local friends. Together the place is a humble Paradise, in the middle of Panjim yet quiet as a cloud on a sunny day. The Portugese architecture of the property will give you the feel of goa you are are looking for. The soothing wall colours the large bathrooms with glass doors, the rustic furniture will transcend you in times of the Portugese sailors coming to India in the mediaeval times. Deric is a connoisseur for many things and also a great lover of literary works and history. Sit and have a coffee with Deric of he and you both find time. The guy possesses get knowledge on various topics. He's genuinely carrying and an incredible host. Love and regards Deric. Hope to see you soon

A lovely comfortable guesthouse in a quiet and leafy historic neighbourhood but only 25 minutes walk from central Panjim. Host Deric was super helpful both before we arrived and during our stay. Two level room included fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Large room, large terrace, perfect.

Derik is the perfect home stay host. In 6 years of holidaying in India, this experience is head and shoulders above all others. The heritage house is in a beautiful peaceful very close to everything. We had a lovely two story room, bedroom and large covered veranda on the first floor and bathroom and dressing area on the ground floor. There is a kettle with tea and coffee and multiple large bottles of water. The fridge is in the ground level so no annoying noise in the bedroom. Breakfast, Indian and western was excellent in Soul Curry a few steps across the road. We ate dinner there too, which was delicious. Derik checked in on us every morning at breakfast and was generous in his time answering our questions. His WhatsApp of suggestions was genuine and welcome. We also loved his dogs. Our train was not until the afternoon and Derek kindly offered us the use of the room until we left.
