Allegra House

We stayed here recently as part of a big month long trip and would thoroughly recommend it as a base for exploring the Bay of Islands - we stayed in the top suite which has a lovely balcony so you can properly enjoy the glorious views - the room has a nice shower room and a fridge which is always useful if you get . The hosts Brita and Heinz are very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and provide plenty of leaflets of things to do and places to go. Breakfast was excellent - lots of variety with lovely fresh fruit but prepare to incur the wrath of Heinz if you want his homemade fresh bread toasted . The property has plenty of parking available - please bear in mind it is at the top of hill so be prepared for the walk back if you leave the car when going out for dinner ( have a few drinks - you wont notice it so much ) If we are ever back in the Bay of Islands we would not hesitate to stay here again

Wonderful stay in an amazing location. We were lucky to have the top floor with spectacular views. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming and breakfast was superb. Better in sun but such an amazing view to wake up to. Definitely recommend it.

We had a fabulous three night stay at Allegra House in the one bedroom apartment. Heinz and Brita were fabulous hosts who made us feel so welcome. The apartment was perfect with stunning views across the bay. Everything was beautifully presented and very clean. We will definitely be back.

Warm welcome from Heinz and Brita on arrival and what a view! Perfect for watching the comings and goings in the Bay of Islands from a peaceful position. Allegra House is in a very quiet spot and although perched on the side of the hill, there is a handy path through their garden to walk to the town of Paihia in just 5 minutes rather than walking along the road. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean and quiet and have a balcony overlooking the bay. However, it is Heinz and Brita’s hospitality and welcoming nature that really shine through. Delicious healthy homemade breakfasts, with choice of eggs cooked to perfection by Heinz and a communal breakfast area on the terrace under a sail shade, overlooking the bay, if you wish to join the other guests. This was great for sharing tips, must-see spots. Heinz and Brita have created a relaxed environment, are on hand if you need anything, happy to help in any way they can and are very good at giving advice on things to do/see in the area if you want it. Lovely, open, welcoming people who clearly enjoy having guests to stay.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at this charming B&B in Paihia! The owners were incredibly hospitable and went out of their way to ensure that we felt at home. From the warm welcome to their thoughtful recommendations for local attractions, they truly made our visit special. The highlight of our stay was definitely the breakfast – without a doubt, the best breakfast I’ve ever had at a B&B! Fresh, delicious, and expertly prepared, it was the perfect way to start the day. The owners’ attention to detail and commitment to making every guest feel pampered is truly unmatched. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Paihia. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy amazing food, and experience the genuine hospitality that makes New Zealand so wonderful!

We enjoyed everything about our stay at Allegra House and our visit to Paihia. The view from our room and the breakfast table out on the deck was amazing. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful when it came to planning our days visiting the area. The breakfasts were great and it was fun meeting the other guests and exchanging travel stories. Our room was comfortable and quiet.
