Paia Inn

Great place to stay in Paia!! This trip I didn't want to rent a car and wanted to stay somewhere with high walkability- the Paia Inn is it. Centrally located in town with walking distance to great restaurants and a local grocery store, with the best smoothies. The beach in front of the hotel has eroded but it is an easy walk to Lower Paia beach from the hotel. And I found lounging on the beach chairs under the tree at the hotel as equally relaxing and a great alternative to being in the sun. THE BEST part of Paia Inn though- is Rhea and Holly, who are incredibly warm, hospitable and accommodating. Mahalo!!

This hotel is not as advertised. The hotel's website shows a beautiful wide sandy beach and while it is on the water, it is nowhere close to wherever that photo was taken. We checked into a hotel that advertised "on the beach" with a restaurant and bar. There is a bar area that looks like it has been abandoned. The restaurant is closed. Our room was over the main street and was noisy. The bed was comfortable, but that was the one highlight. There is nowhere to put your clothing--very small area for hanging clothes and no drawers for other clothes. The safe did not work (and I wouldn't recommend leaving any valuables in the room). The sink had no counter space at all and was in the small chamber with the non-closet. We were told that the beach was not accessible from the hotel property, but we could go down to public beach (no lifeguards) by walking down the highway about 200 yards. We went there and it was a campground--the only people there were homeless and camping out. Not at all safe for families. We checked out after 2 nights (supposed to be 5 nights). The hotel requires payment upfront so beware. After complaining, the owner called to offer us a cottage, but to be honest it would not have changed the fact that there was no beach access or a restaurant. He also offered for us to go to a beach club down the street but that wasn't offered to us to begin with and frankly, it looks like a shack and was not inviting at all. I would give this hotel 1 star and that is only because the bed was comfortable. The people at the front desk were very nice and I felt sorry for them since I'm sure they take most of the complaints. Note that this is not an inexpensive stay. We paid nearly $600 per night. I didn't expect it to be a resort, but I did expect more of what was on the hotel's website. I did check the reviews when I booked, but it was difficult to locate the bad reviews as they were hidden, but when I did fine them (once we arrived) they indicated the same experience that I am giving here. Cute town, but don't stay here. You can visit the town for a few hours and then go to Wailea in 40 minutes. It is more expensive, but well worth it.

My husband and I stayed at the Paia Inn and had some horrible experiences (cockroach infestation, leaking air conditioner on clothes + books, scam-artist massage therapists. 1) We had a cockroach infestation in the bathroom (see pictures). Multiple cockroaches were crawling over our towels and toiletries. I brought this to the attention of the front desk and was told they would reach out to a supervisor and get right back to us. There was no follow-up. 2) On Sunday, we turned the air conditioning on and came back to find it was leaking (see pictures). There were huge pools of water in my suitcase, soaking clothes, shoes, and ruining a notebook (thankfully my computer was not in my bag at this time!). 3) Before our trip, I called and asked to schedule a massage with your front desk (since your website advertises you offer this service). The front desk recommended I book with Transcend Spa in Paia. I entered all of our personal information on Transcend's website and booked our appointments. A few days later, "Natalie" sent me a text message informing me Transcend was closed but she could come to the Paia Inn for the massage, so we set up time for her on Sunday. She never showed up, never called, and never responded to our text messages (even though the "read receipt" was on and we could see the messages had been read). We've had to continue to check our credit card statement to make sure fraudulent charges haven't been made. We asked for a refund / any kind of resolution and have yet to get any follow-up for two weeks. Sadly, this was a really poor experience.

We stayed one night at the Paia Inn and Rhea was so accommodating during our checkin process. It was clear that our presence was valued, and that it was a priority that we had what we needed before turning in for the night. We found the standard room size to be fine for our purposes (we were spending most of our time exploring the island, not in the room). The room was clean, hot water was robust, and the complimentary tea and coffee was a nice touch. Parking was easy, and we enjoyed exploring the hotel beach during sunrise. Would certainly stay again! Thank you!

Adorable hotel, centrally located, kind staff and good amenities. There were 2 roaches in our room but that comes with the territory in HI. But there was also a lovely gray cat that came to our door every evening. The restaurant looked lovely but we did not partake. The pizza place next door was better than any pizza we’ve had in California (and some of the east coast). Would definitely come back. Easy access to road to Hana, airport, and wailea. Also easy access to the beach and its sea turtles!

If upu are in Paia this is a nice place to stay. The staff makes it well worth the trip. I enjoyed my stay at this property. I wish i had more time to spend here.Clean comfortable in the middle of town.

I went for business but took family along for half of the two week stay. BEAUTIFUL accommodations, great restaurant, amazingly close to the beach which was relatively isolated to guests of this inn. Full beach experience, turtles, crabs, amazing sunsets. One of the lovely young staff members even gave my much older mother an assist back up from the beach! But here's the REAL deal, I got sick after my family left. So for a week Joslin, Tim, Katherine, Michael (restaurant) and Mrs. Welcher took care of me. I mean this sincerely. I planned to go to another hotel after my family left because I didn't need so much room, and was turned away because I was sick. But the Paia welcomed me back and LITERALLY took care of me. The poor ladies at the desk even came to my door when I slept through my family's phone calls, to make sure I was okay. This is truly ohana (family) spirit, and my family back home is just as grateful to them as I am.

Nice, quiet, and peaceful hotel. Great dining and bar available right downstairs with live music. Steps away from the beach. All the hotel staff are courteous and very friendly. Next time I’ll stay longer
