We stayed at this hotel last night, and it was an odd experience. We were driving through Ottumwa in the morning and had a reservation there for that night, so I called ahead and asked if we could drop off our luggage to have it stored until we came back. To my surprise, the woman at the hotel I spoke with stated they did not have any place they could store our luggage! I did confirm that we would be there later in the day. When we arrived around 3 PM (with our luggage!), she could not make keys for our room or our daughter's room. She let us into our rooms and stated they would try to get us keys to our rooms. My daughter's room did not have a functioning main light bulb near the entrance. Later, she was able to get my dtr a room key, but we never got a room key to our room. We had to either leave it ajar, or have management go up to our 2nd floor room to let us in. I have never experienced this before. Also, I was informed my daughter's room light would be fixed in about 2 weeks. Eventually we were offered other rooms, but by then we were settled and decided not to move. The room itself was ok, breakfast was pretty good, staff were friendly. However, I wonder about whether management is doing what it needs to do to keep this place well-maintained. They knew we would be arriving about 4 hours early, and they could not put us in rooms that were in working order? The hotel had several floors, and there were about 10 cars in the parking lot. There must have been multiple open rooms. Where they all not working properly? If so, why not close the hotel until it has been renovated? I did NOT hate this place, but the issues above definitely posed problems.
